After calling to be put on the wait list 40 minutes in advance of arriving, we waited an additional 25 minutes. I understand Mother's Day is one of the busiest days in the serving industry. Unfortunately with this being said, we were understanding. Upon finally getting a table, we had a totally separate person, who was not our server take our drink order. I don't know if it was lack of communication between the two but our server had no idea what we were drinking while taking care of our table. When taking the order she even admitted to not being able to read her own handwriting when putting the order in for the kitchen. I was understanding of this as well because I have served MANY years in the past. As a server, ESPECIALLY on Mother's Day you ALWAYS start with the women at the table. I don't care what table rules you're told to go by because you can easily rearrange your serving pad for seating arrangements.. Others were very helpful in getting us what we needed which either hadn't been put in with the order or was forgotten in the kitchen. Our server was off running food and other things to other parties halfway across the building down a hallway. At the end of our service, our checks were wrong. After payment we decided not to leave a tip on the cards used. After signing, she quickly took another guests server receipt copy to finalize it in her system. She saw there was a slash through the tip line, came back to the table and asked very passive aggressively about there not being an amount on that line. The intention had been to leave a cash tip HOWEVER after that incident those decisions were re-thought. After walking out of the restaurant she AGAIN asked about receipts and tips in front of the restaurant. This is one of the most UNPROFESSIONAL and EMBARRASSING experiences I've ever had in the restaurant industry and I will not return. With good service I always tip between 25-30% no questions asked because I know how hard it is. With mistakes the percentage goes down. With abrupt rudeness and disrespect that is...
Read moreI have been in to this restaurant a number of times with varying results.
My most recent visit will likely be my last.
I will preface by saying that I appreciate and respect a business' agency in the policies it sets to ensure their success as a business. That said, sometimes those policies are incompatible with driving customer satisfaction and for anyone that is familiar with business: you need customers to have a successful business.
Three of us sat to have a dinner last night. My Wife was not particularly hungry due to a multitude of reasons. For those unfamiliar with Ramsey's menu and portions, the portions are rather generous.
An item from the kid's menu caught my Wife's eye: 2 eggs, bacon and 2 pancakes. It would have been the right serving size for her based on her appetite. The rest of our party ordered full menu items and when my Wife's turn to order came up and she asked to order from the kid's menu, the server said she would need to check with management.
Subsequently, a gentleman came out and explained the policy that they don't allow people over 12 to order from the kid's menu. Again, I understand this is the business' right and decision, but I must emphasize what a dumb idea I think it is. After making a final appeal and rejecting the manager's offer to order a much larger item, we left and enjoyed a meal that didn't go to waste at Archa 9 across the way.
Here's how this breaks down from my perspective: Ramsey's tries to feel like home. That's apparent based on their food (much of it tastes home made!), the atmosphere (all of the tables and chairs are as comfortable and eclectic as what you find at Grandma's kitchen table). When it comes to the service though, you're not really treated as family.
We would be happy to bring our business back should Ramsey's ever want to adopt a more customer friendly policy or make some offerings to suit smaller...
Read moreWhile the main dining room may be better or perfectly fine, we had a party of 8. We were seated in another part of the building, which was an enclosed patio with all glass windows and a concrete floor. The acoustics are horrible. I couldn't even hear the person sitting across from me. The waitress seated another group by us instead of some other part of the room. We were the only people there. It was miserable. I found myself talking way too loud just to hear myself. The food was great and they make sure you get plenty of it. Plates were overflowing. I like to get a vegetable plate. It was good, really good. Mashed potatoes were actual mashed potatoes. The creamed corn was delicious, buttery and sweet. I didn't care for the Mac and Cheese. It was runny, floury tasting, and fairly tasteless. The pinto beans were good. I had to fish out a chunk of pork fat, but that's pretty common if and when I find pinto beans. Vegetarians don't eat pork and definitely not a hunk of fat. Once in a blue moon, I make pinto beans. I don't put anything in my beans but salt. They taste better than what I had at the restaurant. I don't see a reason to season pinto beans with ham if it makes no difference in the taste. I got 2 sticks of cornbread made of yellow cornmeal and sweetened. That's not how I make cornbread, but it was still good. I can put up with a few things just to be able to get a vegetable plate...
