Wonderful atmosphere and staff. The food was pretty good, but i have a small gripe. The agedashi tofu sauce is NOT of the classic variety. For the chef's sake, I'll include my favorite recipe type. It's one that includes mentsuyu, dashi, mirin, etc and is served warm and poured over the tofu. Also, the tofu should be coated in potato starch ONLY, after being pressed dry. It should have a very light and crisp exterior. Mine was rather hard (as if what flour was in the coating) and was served with a ponzu type sauce that was totally not the best option. It just doesn't compliment the fried tofu or add anything to the dish. Nothing good, anyway. I hope you update your recipe. The portion was HUGE. I don't know if that's to make up for the lack of good flavor, or what. If you keep the portion size and make it really delicious... and promote it... you'll be very busy! Please take this as it is. It's constructive criticism, because I LOVE your restaurant and WANT YOU TO SUCCEED!!
Sincerely,

ย ย ย Read moreIt was a coin-toss when we decided to try this place, but it paid off. Frankly I am surprised to find such a nice Authentic Japanese restaurant here deep in the state of VA. The appetizers (we had gyoza and edamame) we done right, and the sashimi deluxe I ordered was fresh and well prepared (ok maybe the slices were a bit on the small side). The salmon teriyaki my son ordered looked very creative in the decorations, something I have never seen. All in all the authenticity is high, and that includes the ice cream with real red beans. Even the chef looked really Japanese. The water Duncan was extremely helpful and friendly. The place is clean, comfortable and...
ย ย ย Read moreI think it deserves 5 stars because for a sushi restaurant in Lexington VA it is quite good. I've eaten there a lot and enjoyed my meal every time. Have I been to more impressive places? Sure. In Miami or New York, but for this little town I think it will surprise you how well they do it. You generally dont need reservations. They don't have liquor, but do have beer and wine (and saki, of course.) They have all the traditional menu items. The pieces aren't as big as youll find some places but they are always fresh. The service is pleasant enough and the ambiance is kinda nice. They keep the light low, but not to the point where you can't read. I'd definitely...
