The Hidden Tavern — Restaurant in Lexington

i liked their drink list and saw they had pool and darts so me and some coworkers tried to go for a chill night. the road to get to the bar was sketch, and it didn’t look that appealing from the outside but you never know. we go inside (also not appealing) and the bartender started talking to us about the membership. i apologized and said i didn’t realize it was members only so we started to leave (clearly not interested) and bartender tried to encourage us to get a membership. (why would i buy a membership if i don’t even know i like the bar?) i told her no thanks and we left.

my coworkers and i saw plenty of signs about their happy hour on the road to the bar but no signs anywhere about it being a private bar. nothing on the google page indicates it’s private unless you dig through reviews. nothing on the fb page, which i also looked at before going, indicates it’s a private bar. i’ve never been to a members only bar but i feel like there needs to be some kind of CLEAR indication online and around/on the building. i bet it’s posted somewhere but it shouldn’t be this hard to find.

also, not even having bar food is a huge con. Krafty Draft is better. they have a membership but also let people try the bar out before you pay a membership fee. it’s also a much more visibly appealing spot...

A great little dive bar experience, convenient to Lexington yet just out of the grasp of the Town of Lexington's Finest. Formerly JT's on the pond, The Hidden Tavern's aptly named bar is just that. A hidden gem with a gorgeous water side view. A warning, this a private bar with no dining, so you will need a membership or someone to sign you in as a guest. This is normally easy as there are smokers outside or patrons surrounding a fire by the firepit. Also, cash only, so no credit cards. ATM on is site, but you know how pricey bar ATM's can be. Would love for this place to have some investments made to make it better. Perhaps Biker friendly parking (currently gravel), some great shareable food options, more TV's and of course take credit cards. This is one of the nicest places I have been! A private bar (alcohol after 2am) with a pond in the back. Food trucks every weekend, and DJ’s or a band as well. Plenty of tables on the covered porch for lounging and getting a bite to eat. Pool tables, and friendly staff. Members only with a background check, safety first.
