Suffice to say we did not have a good visit. There were multiple factors, and it started with a menu chock-full of Engrish and grammatical errors, compounded with most dishes having no explanation at all. Which led to get taking several minutes to try to put the pieces together. When I asked about the 'all you can eat' option, our highly-accented server made sure to first lead off with all the restrictions/limitations, and at the kitchen deliberately scales the portions back, but never really explained what -was- included. I asked to order some fried dumplings and she said I could not unless I ordered an entree. Blank Gen Z stare. So I ordered the Hibachi steak and chicken, to be told they have no steak (on a Friday at 6:00 p.m.). So I went with chicken and shrimp, which proved to be a big mistake.
My entre was brought out first, along with the tardy pot stickers, but without my wife's entre. Now bear in mind there's only one person working, but the place is hardly busy. I invite my wife to partake in my dish also, and about 9 minutes later her dishes brought out. I've already noticed my shrimp are massively overcooked. In fact I don't know that I've had shrimp cooked to this near rubber-like consistency. Right on the heels of that I try the potstickers, only to spit it out because it tastes and smells like biting into Marlboro cigarettes. Absolutely gross.
My wife's dish comes out, the chicken lo mein. It has zero vegetables in it, hot but very bland. At this point everything has gone off the rails. When the server finally comes back I explain our dissatisfaction. I asked if they will simply remake the shrimp portion, and take the pot stickers off the bill. She goes to the kitchen window and I can hear her loudly talking with someone in the back. She comes back and says she's just going to remove it from the bill (in other words they won't), I guess the chef is too proud to admit fault. To her credit she did remove my entree and the pot stickers from the bill.
We won't be back, and won't...
Read moreI'm not sure what happened tonight, but I experienced one of the worst restaurant services in Lexington. The service was horrible, and the quality of the food left a lot to be desired. I feel compelled to share my honest review to help others.
To start with, we were seated and waited for what felt like an eternity before a waitress came by to take our drink and orders. It took a whopping 20 minutes for her to even acknowledge us, as she was busy cleaning up tables after customers had left. What was frustrating was that the restaurant wasn't even busy at that time, so there was no excuse for such a delay in providing basic service like water.
When our food finally arrived, I was shocked to find that the ramen I had ordered was not made with traditional ramen noodles, but instead with spaghetti noodles. It felt like a complete oversight or lack of attention in the kitchen. The taste was off, and I found myself questioning why I had come to this restaurant.
Adding to the disappointment was the sequence in which our food was served. The entrees arrived first, and it was only after we had finished them that the appetizers made their appearance. It felt disorganized and further contributed to the overall negative experience.
One slight attempt at damage control came from one of the cooks or owner, who seemed aware of the poor service. Instead of offering a discount or a sincere apology, he simply handed us two small dumplings. While it was a kind gesture, it did little to make up for the numerous shortcomings during our visit.
Overall, my experience at Dumpling & Noodles was highly unsatisfactory and very disappointing. The service was lacking, the food wasn't up to par, and the overall attention to customer needs was simply not there. I would advise others to think twice before dining here, as there are certainly better options available in the area especially here...
Read moreWe went here for the first time today after having it recommended and hearing rave reviews about the handmade noodles. I gave a 3 star rating, because the food was actually pretty good. I really enjoyed the dipping sauce that comes with the dumplings. We ordered General Taos Chicken, one with noodles and one with fried rice, two orders of (4 piece) dumplings and a pork noodle soup. Everything came out at a different time, so I got my chicken long before the noodles came out. The rice and noodles both came out separately at different times, in their own dishes..I felt they should have been served with the chicken? They forgot about my son's pork noodle soup, and his drink. The server eventually remembered and brought his drink, but we had to flag another person down and ask for our ramen. It is very obvious English is not their first language which doesn't bother me at all, but I pointed to what I was ordering on the menu and it was like he was still confused and didn't know what I was ordering, and was again confused when I told him we didn't get the pork noodle soup, like he didnt know what that was. The ramen came out by the time the rest of us were done eating and ready to go. All in all, the food is good, and the service was friendly but awkward and uncomfortable because they didn't seem to understand us and weren't very attentive (Like they didn't come back and ask if things were good or if there was anything else we needed). Also, we had to get up and find forks because they don't have utensils at the table and only give you chopsticks. With tip included it was $65 for the 3 of us to eat which in my opinion is way too high and it isn't a high chance that we will...
