Some friends and I recently went to enjoy the night here to play pool, drink some beer and eat some food and it was a terrible experience. We were playing pool and a patron and his significant other came to play darts right next to us in the way of our game when there is 5 dart boards open. The patrons that attend this restaurant are disrespectful and don’t care about others. I asked the manager and someone that works there to ask them politely if they can move and they just stood there looking at them and did nothing to help me. Then We ordered wings with Erika and the bartender/food runner named Rachel brought somebody else’s order to our table, which made no sense to me because she should know where the food is going. Note: we returned the wings without even touching them. We were just about ready to cash out and when they bring out the check we get charged for the wings that were supposed to be for somebody else on the other side of the restaurant. I had spoken to the manager which is extremely rude and disrespectful and said that it was my fault so I am responsible for it because he said “you didn’t know what you ordered and we had to throw out 30 wings because of you and it’s your responsibility to pay for it” I then asked for a general manager and he said that he’s going to be rude and just as disrespectful as him. I then said okay we’ll it’s either you give me the wings you charged me for that we didn’t even order or you remove it from the bill. He refused both for a while until he finally removed it and I agreed to pay. As that was happening a patron from the restaurant stepped in and offered to pay my bill and to get me out of here and the manager agreed with the patron but I refused to let him pay. Eventually I paid my bill and they said I am never allowed back into their restaurant. Honestly I do not want to ever go back because this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a restaurant and it could have been handled way differently. I Highly recommend against going to this restaurant to drink, eat, play pool because the tables are in terrible condition...
Read moreI was invited for dinner at this Irish pub. Opened in 2010 the building used to be a Flannigan's in the 1970's. The owner of the former John L.. Sullivan's next door took his bar when he closed and placed it in his new place Packy's. A lot of the sports paraphernalia that hangs on the walls inside Packy's used to grace the walls of John L. Sullivan's.
We came on trivia night so it was fun to play along from the sidelines. I definitely want to come back and play for real. They offer it on Wednesday nights at 7 o'clock. We opted to sit at the bar. Besides the groups playing trivia people around us were playing pool and darts. All of the sports games were showing on the TV's above the bar. There is live music every Friday and Saturday night from 9 PM to 1 AM. Poker is Monday and a Thursday nights at 7 PM. Happy Hour is weekdays until 7 PM.
I started off with a Strongbow hard cider. For dinner I had their Wednesday night special of 3 sliders for $7. You could have cod, bangers with grilled onions, or hamburgers. I wish they had a plate of all three but you had to pick one kind. Julie and I were able to try each other's which was nice. My burger sliders were more like three whole burgers. I was starving and I managed to eat all of them and the hot crispy fries that came on the side. I loved the relaxed atmosphere of the pub and if it hadn't been a school night I might have hung out for another drink or two. The price was a deal and the food exceeded my expectations. Actually everything that came out of the kitchen looked and smelled amazing. My visit here was a nice respite from the work week and I will...
Read moreAlright, we went there to grab something on their late night menu. We didn't get much bc we were in coconut grove earlier, so we weren't that hungry. I ordered an old fashion whiskey cocktail. That was okay. The bartender was proactive enough to let us know by ordering a main appetizer we would qualify for a free side dish. I found that very thoughtful by her and she's looking out for her patrons. We chose sweet potato fries as our free side item. Good they were free because they had herendous burnt taste to them and were really dark. Which usually means they haven't changed the cooking oil. I know eating establishments have to balance economies of scale along with food quality, but the cook must have two different fryers at least in that kitchen. We had ordered the buffalo wings and they didn't come out black. Some of the drummettes were overly crispy on the fat meaty end. Probably over cooked but they didn't seem reheated. The wings were average at best. Well, I never like to leave less than a good review , but I feel it's a responsibility to make management people aware so they can try to fix the issues. I'd love to try this place during happy hour and give it another shot. I like the ambiance and I can tell they have loyal following from the locals that were there playing pool. The late menu consisted of mostly fried items. That usually means at that hour they don't want to prepare anything of any substance. Hence, the term late menu, but it would be nice to see items that aren't fried. Maybe they will come up with something after perusing through my post....
