Seniors please be careful!!! Get everything in writing, specifically the date of delivery and I suggest you take pics of the mattress tags because when reviewing the receipt, I found that it wasn't clear, so it wouldn't be hard to change it out and say that was the one you ordered.
Leo, the original salesperson, was helpful upon our first meeting. We found a mattress for ourselves and for our grandson. We scheduled an appt. with Leo for Saturday, so our grandson could try the mattress before we made our purchase. We arrived at our scheduled appt. Saturday didn't show up until more than an hour past our scheduled meeting, so we left to do errands, at publix and came back to make sure he got the commission since he was helpful at our first visit. We waited around for over an hour, so he'd get the sale commission. But our grandson was not amenable to all the waiting, so after trying to waste time doing errands we began to complete the purchase with another salesperson, Leo did arrive shortly therafter.
Delivery was scheduled for the next Tuesday between 4:30-6:30pm (or 4-6pm). We drove from our home in tamarac to our grandson's home to receive the delivery. The mattress did not arrive. We didn't rcve a call or any notification letting us know that the delivery was not going to happen. I called to ask the status On the delivery and spoke to a friendly saleswoman, who informed me that it was not scheduled to be delivered that day but she'd was happy to set up a delivery date for the following Saturday, 3/22/25.
On 3/22/25 the delivery truck arrived, since there was no set up or removal, my daughter thanked them for the delivery and gave the drivers: cold waters, apples and a few packages of snacks to take with them. She let her dogs out of the bedroom and her and my grandson got to work making up the bed. As she went to put the mattress pad on, age noticed the the mattress was placed with the tag next to the headboard. As she moved the tag, she saw writing in red sharpie under it, she then turned in the light and saw numerous soil spots as well. Upon further inspection, my grandson realized it was not the mattress we purchased in the store. He was then able to make out the red sharpie scribbles, which read: "secondary/ as is/ no warranty".
It was determined that not only was it a used mattress, the mattress we purchased was new and Leo confirmed it had a warranty. Since my daughter couldn't catch the truck, she called the store immediately after calling us to let us know about what seemed to be a mix up. Leo answered her call and confirmed that the mattress would be picked up. There was no apology offered, but the error would be rectified "within the hour", so by 12:15. So she moved the mattress to her front door entryway (she lives in a 950 sq ft condo).
At 12:20 Leo reached out to let us know the truck was too far away to make it until Monday. The mattress we purchased was not on the truck for del!!!
They had meant to deliver the used mattress to us?!?!
I still have no answer to where the mattress I purchased even is... Except that it's not in stock.
I miss the days where a person's word meant something. I get that salespeople need to feed their families. I understand economic hardship as a single mom and I do have compassion and a generous heart. But when money is paid for a product, a customer should be able to be confident that the business will provide the product agreed to, or at the very least, remedy it immediately. This is not an online business, it's a LOCAL brick and mortar store in Lighthouse Point that obviously has failing business principles since they seemed to have good reviews.
I'm beyond disappointed. I'll update this review letting you all know how long it takes to get the correct mattress delivered, and how long to pick up the used mattress...
It is Sunday, 3/23 at 1:30, I'm confirming that the used mattress is still...
Read moreI'm grateful that City Mattress stepped up, fixed the issue, and truly made things right.
Issue: My elderly parents purchased what they believed was a new king-size mattress for $1,200. At no point were they told it was a used mattress. After a week of poor sleep and discomfort, they discovered holes in the mattress. When they went back to the store to address the issue, the staff refused to issue a refund or take responsibility.
Taking advantage of seniors and selling used items as new is completely unacceptable. This place is dishonest and lacks basic customer service ethics.
I'm pleased to share that City Mattress has addressed the issue with my parents' mattress. They received a new one, and it's brought them much-needed relief. They can now relax and rest comfortably, thanks to the efforts of Seth and Jared. Their professionalism and dedication to customer satisfaction truly stand out. Thank you again, Seth and Gary, for making...
Read moreI was desperate for a new mattress and dreading the typical pressured sales experience. I almost bought online from another company but so glad I didn't.
I hesitantly walked in on a Friday evening and was greeted by Leo. He kindly asked what I was looking for and I gave him a few specifics: king, medium/soft, ideally similar to the Sealy posturepedic hybrid and max $1200. Enough said, without fluff and sales talk, he took me around the store and showed me a few mattresses that I might like. The first one I tried ended up being my favorite, and easily within my price range. He answered all of my questions, zero pressure involved.
He arranged for prompt white glove delivery at a time that was convenient for me, and was able to include a high quality box spring - all of this with tax included came out to $1,100. Under budget.
Delivery was perfect. They set everything up beautifully and took away all packaging.
Leo could not have been better - thank you!
I was not incentivized to leave this review. This is a great place to find an affordable, yet high...
