My husband and I come here on a reoccurring basis and typically bring along out of town guest with us when we go..
I never even thought to write a review until our waitress let us know about y'all's social media pages.. I'm not much of a social media queen but I do enjoy writing a well deserved review to show my support for our local establishments.
Over the years we have been dining here, we have had some of the greatest bar eats this town has to offer... And I know, you're probably thinking... How hard could that be?.... It's apparently pretty difficult... What I love the most about their food is: I can eat it hot from the kitchen, a few hours later, or straight out of the fridge at midnight the next day.. as a mom it's pretty difficult to eat a hot meal so you learn to enjoy a few hot bites, a few room temp bites and the rest after it's been in the fridge over night, yall it's still great. I'll even note that their fries are still good when cold.. which is a very difficult task to achieve.. and you guys have done it. So, we've been coming here for the past few years and I swear each time the place gets an upgrade here and there.. and it makes me proud to suggest people eat there because I know they are putting hard work into this place.. and it shows. The menu style has changed and the food is consistent. One thing I really appreciate is the burgers.. I love a good burger.. and I'm picky about my burgers, I like creative options and y'all have created some great burgers. And the buffalo shimp π.... Those everything but the kitchen sink fries π€―..
Now, I do have one bone to pick, love the chicken wings... Not too crazy about the Old Bay flavor option though, and I like Old Bay.. but it needed another ingredient added with it to get it just perfect.. I might suggest tossing the wings in melted butter with old Bay in it, immediately after the chicken has fried. I think that could really do that flavor option some justice. We've recently earned the privilege of ordering off the kid menu and I gotta say it's on point.. that chicken quesadilla, outta sight.. your children's menu is kid approved, doesn't cut corners just because kids are eating it- and that is commendable.
Now, last and certainly not least, I love yalls bloody Mary's. They are great. Y'all don't try to over decorate them to mask the taste.. y'all focus on the taste of the mix.. and Im all about that.
Wait..., that's not the last thing, there's one more: the wait staff has always been a pleasure to be waited on by. Waiting tables is no easy task.. You not only have to balance all the plates you also have to balance your attention to each of your tables and each individual guest..and be it busy or during the down time- I've always liked the attention my friends, family and I have received when dining here. I will say, Isabella (Bella) did a fantastic job on Saturday afternoon when we came in and had been the one to talk about checking the Facebook page for events, specials, and what's coming up.. and she did a great job waiting on us, she never missed a beat. Our cups stayed full and iced, our food came out hot and fresh, I even threw her a loop and asked her to bring our child's food out with the appetizer and she got it right. she was friendly and on top of her game. I was definitely glad we brought our family with us, that day, because the food and hospitality really...

Entered around 630 PM. We started off the experience seating ourselves while waiting for a waitress to come by. We had sat for a while without seeing ANYONE walk through the diner area - after about 10 minutes, we saw a tie-dyed waitress approach another table to check on them, but still - nothing. It took another few minutes for someone to even greet us and hand us menus.
Our waitress, olivia according to our receipt, started us off not with a call for drinks or apps, but with a call for an IMMEDIATE 5 star review. If we could do it before we left, we'd get a $5 gift card. I didnt hold this against the restaurant's atmosphere or food, but it was definitely the second strike against the waitress. We ordered drinks - which took 10 minutes - and then ordered apps and food.
For apps: fried pickles. This was brought by a run, likely someone from the bar area, because she also delivered our beer. In their defense of timing, these puppies came out HOT--- like, burn warning fresh. And, they were what you would expect. If I had to guess, they're the Harvest Creation or Fred's bulk fried pickles. It's not unexpected with a bar and grill to use pre-packaged items like this. It keeps overhead lower. Add some salt, dip in the ranch provided, and go.
For food, I did the French dip with no onions and he did the Hawk. Let's start with the French dip. Good sandwich, good meat. Happy there. The Au Jus was very peppery - think like drinking pepper soup. It overpowered the broth. Definitely cut that pepper x4. Also, for the dryness of the hoagie, there was not enough Au Jus. Ordered with fried okra, again- bulk pre-made.
Let's talk about the star of the night: the Hawk. That burger was SPOT ON. And, unlike everything else, it was entirely housemade. Maybe the patty was pre-made, but then you wouldn't have been able to serve it medium like that. The burger was well seasoned, paired with a great bun, with tasty toppings. Served with tasty cheese fries that were perfect.
To the owner - I say this to say: it seems like you have some talent on that grill. I wonder if you looked at the other talent in the back of house if you wouldn't be able to make all of the things you buy prepackaged, increasing quality. Test it out!
Quick on the atmosphere: like, it's a bar. It's falling apart, but I almost expect that in most places. The cushions died three years ago. The place is decorated in odd paper cut outs. The most modern things on the wall are TVs. The weekly specials showed up out of order.
Overall, slow inattentive staff, kitchen that appears to be trying, and a building that's being held together by likely an owner who is never there and doesn't see it or one that just can't be bothered. If you're here for beer and the game, its not bad. If this is for any sober-experience, go elsewhere. It's not good enough...
Β Β Β Read moreMy boyfriend and I happened to come on wing night which which was a pleasant surprise given we love wings. We sat at a table where the bartender was responsible for serving us, which isn't unusual but the bar seating was rather full. We understood service would be a bit slower since she would have to come out from the bar to help us, however it didn't excuse the rest of our experience. To start, our beers got mixed up, which wasn't a big deal but just something we noticed. The onion loaf appetizer was good, but a bit too greasy as we continued to eat it. After a 20-30 min wait, our orders came out and mine was wrong. I had ordered boneless wings but was given bone in. I notified the food runner and she said she would go fix it, and that we could keep the wings since she isn't allowed to take them back once they touch the table. Now, things got a bit confusing since a menagerie of staff started interacting with us. The bartender then came over for the first time since delivering our beers to check on us. We told her my order was wrong so she grabbed the plate and said she would go fix it. We were a bit surprised since another staff member told us she couldn't do that, thus giving us conflicting information. A bit later, ANOTHER server came over to check on us, and we again told her that we were waiting on my order to be fixed and she said she would check on it. This highlights the need for staff to be trained on better communication and maybe zoning of tables? It all seemed a bit chaotic. After another 20ish min wait my boneless wings came out but one of the sauces was wrong. I didn't care at this point and just took it. Excitedly I ate them, but found that they exuded grease and oil the second I bit into them which made them a bit unappetizing. I ate a couple and was ready to leave. My boyfriend's wings were overly dry and lacked moisture. The bartender took a dollar off an already cheap order for the wait which bemused my boyfriend and I. TLDR - Chaotic service and unappetizingly greasy food. Won't...
