We live local and this is one of our few places we like to go to, mainly because of their extensive beer list. The menu could be much bigger but whats on there is nice. The main problem this place has is the consistency of their service. We've had some great waiters/waitresses that are very personable and attentive to you as a customer. But for every good day of service, there is a bad one. This restaurant really tries to flip tables as quick as they can. Yes, they do note on their menu that due to limited number of tables, that they ask those who are just drinking to excuse themselves from the table. However, that shouldn't imply that staff should be pushy. For instance, a table of 4 adults and a child were eating dinner with drinks. Our waiter told us I could not open another bottled beer because there were guests waiting to be seated. First, everyone else had a drink at the table that was at least half full leftover from dinner. Second, there were maybe 4 people waiting to be seated. He then had the attitude of not wanting to put in an order of dessert for the table next to us. I then overhead the waiter tell other coworkers that "thats how you make money in the restaurant business." We approached the owner afterwards and he seemed to be coming up with excuses such as "well thats why the menu says what it says" as opposed to be being sympathetic to our experience. I believe this "pushy" philosophy comes from the top and we didn't feel like we were being treated well, by both our server...
Read moreCraft Ale House is a local gem serving up a solid array of food with an extensive craft beer selection. The food menu features small plates, soups, sandwiches, and entrees which are more creative then your typical gastropub. They have over a dozen high quality brews on draft with a focus on both the local and broader domestic craft brewery scene. The can and bottle selection brings that variety to well over 100. Note, no full bar here...just an expansive collection of craft beer ranging from sours to stouts and everything in between.
We started with the beets and shaved Brussels which was perfectly cooked and well balanced. The fettuccine dish, a special recommended by our server, also hit the mark with a delicious garlic sauce and mix of fresh clams and mussels. One star deduction for the chicken entree which unfortunately didn’t arrive with the bread that they prepare with Sly Fox spelt. Both the texture and flavor of the dish were underwhelming. The chicken wasn’t dry because it was soaking in brown butter, but I’d recommend searing so it crisps the skin or slowly cooking to aim for something more tender.
Overall, great experience as the beer and service were both phenomenal. The food is a little pricy, but I’ve been in a few times and the chicken is the first dish which disappointed. College football was on the tv behind the bar and they have live music on weekends. Highly recommend for date night or really any occasion...
Read moreHusband gives it five stars, me four. But we will go with his, lol. Beer - great rotating selections. Seems like most "brew pubs" these days offer plenty of selections but only ale and IPA's. Some folks (us) like dark beers year round. Craft always has several to chose from that are not IPA's and for this we say thank you! Bartenders are very knowledgeable about the beers they offer. Food, this is were I come in with the 4 stars. For transparency I am incredibly picky and vegetarian on top of that. The dinner menu is a wee bit short (just my opinion). I feel like 3 more entrees and another robust (Cobb would be awesome) salad would be wonderful. There is no shame in keeping a frozen meatless patty on hand so we veg heads can substitute so we can have a "burger". Or, offer a sophisticated grilled cheese? Craft offers an outstanding artisinal cheese plate that I often get as my entree. It comes with an in house mustard that is exceptional. The vegetarian Ramen howl is also exceptional (I just don't want that ever time). The Mediterranean Linguini may be better with the optional chicken or shrimp must I found it strangely bland. Throwing in some cheese would help, manchego perhaps. Again, I don't eat meat so adding cheese will get me some needed protein. Craft Tots are a decadent indulgence there very hard not to request 3 orders of....scrumptious! We are new to this area and have already made this one of our...
