Highly recommended
I introduced my partner to Indian food a few years ago now and she loves it as much as yours truly.
Luckily I grew up eating Indian food, and like to call myself a bit of a curry nerd (well not the nerd bit, but you catch my drift).
I've probably had most Indian foods available, and although I've never been a fan of Lamb, or even fish in curries, I do really really like most of the rest of the foods they offer.
This place is probably one of the best or thee best Indian restaurant I have been to in the last few years. The staff are very polite, helpful, attentive and well just great. The food is excellent. Cooked to perfection and I cannot fault it one bit.
I do not know if they serve alcoholic drinks here like some Indian restaurants do as I've only been here during the daytime unfortunately, and tend not to drink in the day, or I'll be completely plastered by early evening. (Indian beer is pretty good too, not like the American or some European beers out there that take like a drink that's come from the genitals), I like the stuff, Cobra and Kingfisher being rather tasty.
Anyway, the food, all of it I have had here is an easy 5 out of 5.
The poppadoms, - These are compulsory before any Indian meal, you have to order these first, usually to share (although I don't like sharing my food, unless it's poisonous), but here you're safe, it's really good. Yes poppadoms are compulsory, if you haven't had them before, try them. They're great.
The bread, now this is down to taste, (like everything really), some people like garlic, (makes some peoples breath even better, plus it scares away vampires too),
Ignore me now, I'm going on with myself. I'll get straight to the point.
The garlic nan bread is good, the Peshwari nan bread in my opinion is the best, it's sweet, and just well good. Your tastes may differ though, but this one is a must. I always use it to mop up the curry during the meal then save a bit to mop up the plate at the end, because as much as I'd like too, I don't think liking the plates clean in a restaurant would go down very well with my street cred.
The rice, not too dry, not too wet. Just spot on. Can't go wrong with the way they cook this.
The drinks, I've only had soft drinks here (soda and the like) so can't comment really, except they are served ice cold which is good.
Service - perfect.
Cleanliness - perfect
Parking - right outside the door, can't complain.
Food, - read the above - it's an easy 5 out of 5.
Note, this is a family business and they do not treat you like 'just another customer' waiting to be fed, like people coming along on a cattle truck, (like some of the chain restaurants do). At this restaurant they treat you very well and I cannot recommend them enough.
If you like Indian food, then visit. If you have never tried Indian food then try it. If you don't like Indian food, then well...
Read moreSo I had been wanting to take my mother out for Indian food because I love Goat Masala, so I wanted my mother to try it. Last weekend I finally got her there. We started by visiting my usual place only to find it didn't open until 5:00 pm so I decided to head to Indian Kitchen instead. The server staff sat us and quickly took our order. We wanted Goat Masala and I noticed they had lamb but not goat. I asked the server if they had Goat Masala and he replied "absolutely, we will make it for you". He recommended lamb over goat so we decided to order one of each. Next was the spice level. We didn't want mild but were afraid that medium would be too spicy. The server offered to bring mild lamb and medium spicy goat, then offered to customize the spice between mild and medium for both orders just in case. The food came out quickly and WOW! That was just amazing! The Basmati rice was beautiful. It had peachy colors and very thinly sliced carrots, something I had never seen in Basmati rice yet. It was aromatic and tasty enough to be eaten alone for dinner. The best was yet to come though. Both the Lamb and Goat Masala were outstanding. The best i've ever had to date. Buttery soft tender morsels of meat covered in thick sauces that were pleasantly different. In other words its not one sauce for both dishes. Each dish has it's own distinct sauce. The level of spicy-ness was just perfect for our taste buds, so good we could not pick a favorite.
After eating to our hearts' content we wound up taking home just enough to make one serving of each, so portions are obviously generous also. Price was right at about the same price you'd pay for dinner at any other Indian restaurant and we were happy with everything, including this small perk the server added at the end. He brought us the most amazing rice & coconut pudding we had ever had. I'm telling you if you only want rice pudding then swing by and grab a bowl of this stuff. You will not regret it! Try it and spread the word! Great eateries like these are hard to find close to home so when you do find them you have to show your support to help them stick around. They want to stay in business and you'll want to have them around also. Perfect. Hats off to the Chef, Raj Gogna! He is the best at this art! The server deserves a call-out also. I'm mad at myself because I didn't get his name. But the server was outstanding and super humble. He was graceful enough to introduce us to his chef and gave him all the glory for our wonderful experience. But the truth is it always starts with the server staff. He was impeccable too from start to finish, and he was just super humble and for that I'll give him all the credit in the world. Mr. server guy, if you read this you must know we will be back thanks to you and Raj both! Thank you for a great...
Read moreThis is the first time my wife and I have been to this new restaurant. It is adjacent to ‘The Shoppes at Fox Ridge’ shopping center in the Limerick Township/Royersford area. Friends of ours discovered it recently and raved about it. The 4 of us had lunch here yesterday (Saturday). This is not your usual Indian restaurant experience. It is all a la carte right now. Our waiter is very professional and first brought out an appetizer he recommended which was a specialty that day – eggplant, and a basket of papadum. Entrees- I selected Chicken Hariyali Tikka which is meaty chicken tandoori special with lots of vegetables on a sizzler plate. My wife and my friend had the Goat Curry specialty and his wife had Kashmiri Dum Aloo vegetarian specialty.
While selecting our entrees, our waiter brought out a bottle of red wine from Spain’s Jumilla region winery - Fuerza, the first I heard of them and with the following grape varieties; it is a blend of 75% Monastrell/25% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a delicious red wine with strong fruity and berry flavors, Wine Spectator 90 rating. I never had a Monastrell variety before – it is known as Mataro or Mourvedre in regions outside of Spain.
With our entrees we received a big basket of naan -at least 2 varieties, 12 quarters and 3 bowls of basmati rice. In the middle of eating our entrees the waiter brings out a bottle of white wine- a Pinot Grigio. We did finish the bottle of red wine. Before the end of the meal he brings out a second bottle of Fuerza! Unfortunately, we couldn’t finish all the wines as to do this we would have been too woozy to drive! We all liked our entrees very much. For dessert, our waiter bought out (without ordering) Gulab Jamun, my favorite dessert; it was fresh and firm. Then he brought out 2 more of my favorites – Kheer (rice pudding) and Gajar(carrot) Halwa. The kheer was just the consistency I like- not too soupy nor too sweet with too much sugar, and the carrot halwa was not too sweet or too oily like many other restaurants. We were stuffed by the end of the meal and had to bring home much leftovers.
Note - All we were charged for as I recall was just the entrees. We received so many extras without asking for – 3 bottles of wines, appetizers, desserts. A TV monitor played an Indian movie, I could not see the screen from my seat, but I do like to hear Indian music while eating in an Indian restaurant.
Believe it or not, after we left the restaurant, we all waddled over to the Corropolese Bakery and I bought some more food; what a foodie day!
Kuch-kuch hota hai! I wish Indian Kitchen PA...
