Thanksgiving 2018
The inn and the grounds around it are very nice. My family and I went on Thanksgiving to enjoy a meal together. Thanksgiving dinner is served buffet style. This is where the problem was.
The buffet was set up in the hallway between the ballroom and the main restaurant. The area was also a main entrance to the building.
The cold air came rushing into the building every time the door was opened.
The Buffet Line: Whoever set up the buffet line in the manner in which it was needs to be retrained. I don't understand why the buffet line was separated into two different lines. Ie: fixings line and then the meat line. The area in the hallway was small and cramped. Everyone around me was complaining about the set up.
I learned that this buffet line was the line for both seating areas (Ballroom and Main Restaurant). Each seating area should have had its own buffet line.
Inside the ballroom there was plenty of room to set up an effective buffet line.
In short: It was very disorganized.
The Food: Traditional Thanksgiving foods and desserts.
The problem with the set up and the increased time to get a meal caused the meals to be cold by the time I got back to my table.
The Price: Expensive for what we got. At $30.00 per person I expected to at least get a hot meal. Our bill was $307.00 this included a couple of drinks from the bar. A 20% gratuity was Included in the price. I didn't appreciate them adding a tip to the bill. I would like to be the one determining the tip amount.
It was like eating cold left overs the day after Thanksgiving.
If I wasn't with my family I would have demanded a refund for being served cold food.
Stay far away from here for the holiday buffet style meals.
It would be nice if the owner took some time...
Read moreRecently we wanted to go out for a nice meal. We try to support local businesses whenever possible. Copperfield Inn is a great place to go for a special occasion dinner, or just a quick, good meal. Parking was easy as they have plenty of spaces. They were hosting an event in the banquet room and there were still plenty of spaces. We went for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. I had chicken and roasted pepper crepes and my wife had chicken Parmigiano. The food did not take overly long for a freshly cooked meal. While waiting for our entrées we enjoyed some of the warm bread. It was delicious. We each had a house salad that was way better than a typical house salad. It had plenty of different greens and a nice dressing. I don't usually even like salads, but this was good. Far better than iceberg lettuce with no taste and Wishbone Italian! The entrées were large enough that my wife couldn't finish hers, so she had it boxed up to go. No dessert if you don't finish your dinner. The waitress knew it was our anniversary. Since we weren't having dessert she offered us some raspberry cheesecake to go. It was on the house! That was so kind of them. One tip: If you are making a left on Ridge Avenue, drive around behind CVS until you come to the road that intersects Ridge. There's a light there, so making a left is much easier. Have a...
Read moreI'm taking the time to write a glowing review for Copperfield after our entertaining Birthday dinner last night! The restaurant and staff is always wonderful but they deserve an award after yesterday; a patron was playing music on her cell phone at a very high volume at her own table (sad that it needs to be noted how incredibly rude it is to play music or children's games/movies out loud in a restaurant ... or any public place for that matter).
The Manager went over and very nicely asked her to turn it off. You can imagine this woman's belligerent behavior in response to this request. She was mouthy, loud, resistant, and accusatory of other patrons that we would even think this would be unacceptable. The staff asked her to leave and finally got her out of the restaurant without incident.
I cannot commend the staff enough for handling this rude woman with grace and calm, as so many restaurants ignore when this type of behavior and the rest of us suffer. I will add, this is certainly not typical of the wonderful clientele at Copperfield. I will continue to go back again and again, and sing their praises as being a longstanding and consistently delicious restaurant in our...
