I love visiting the CHI Family Restaurant the family that run it are a local friendly smaller town family. The food is consistently on point with the expectations of Americanized Chinese cuisine. The restaurant's interior is very modern feeling, as well as extremely spacious. I usually order the General Tso's chicken, which has a sweet and slightly spicy flavor combination. The crab rangoon is also absolutely delicious, and I really like the soups as well. If you go during lunch you get an entree, choice of crabmeat rangoon or an egg roll, and choice of soup. I have been very negligent as to writing this review. I have eaten Chinese food all over the country, top to bottom, East to West, and I must say that dish for dish there is no better Chinese food (Americanized I’m sure) than that served at CHI Family Restaurant in Lincoln, Illinois. We have dined with the Chi’s for 25+ years (even before they owned their own restaurant). Their new restaurant is beautiful inside. As far as people go, the Chi family and the folks that work at the restaurant are some of the finest , hardworking, courteous people I know. Horrible horrible food. It was the worst wonton soup I have ever had. No flavor what so ever with no meat in the doughy bland noodles. Even the onions had no flavor I left almost all of it and was taken back the waiter did not ask if it was all right. My rice was cold, dry and had No flavor at all. The sweet and sour chicken had tiny stringy pieces of tough chicken. I won’t go back. A bit dirty I tried to order take out when I first placed my order but decided against it as it was an extra three dollars to get the soup even if it was served at the restaurant I must say I’m glad I didn’t get the take out since the rest of the food was bad.
