El Portal Taqueria — Restaurant in Lincoln

Used to be a good place. Now they are so greedy they won’t even give you any salsa to accompany your food. The food is getting more and more sloppy with less and less flavor. Too many good places in Lincoln to even consider this place. They will try to charge you 3.49 for salsa to go with with your 10 dollar burrito that comes out as absolute SLOP! Do yourself a favor and avoid this place that likes to exploit and steal from their hard working farming community. Ain’t no way a little onion cilantro and tomato chopped together can warrant a tiny little cup for 3.49 when the burrito itself is dry as hell. I hate to share a bad review of this place because I know it's local and family owned however our food was not good. This was our first time eating here and my husband got a burrito with al pastor that had what we believe to be a piece of rancid meat and that made him sick for a few days. I got nachos with the al pastor as well and the toppings were so hot, it melted the styrofoam food container to the chips and made part of the meal inedible. We didn't know the container was melted until we got home, but I'd suggest checking your food before you leave if you choose to eat here. I'd also suggest putting foil and parchment in the bottom of the to go containers to maybe prevent that. We try to help support local restaurants, but after that, we don't feel comfortable...

To start off, we received unbelievably horrible service and the dining room was dirty and unattended to. The counter people absolutely do not care about customer service or satisfaction. When asking the waitress about items on the menu she seemed annoyed to explain how they were prepared. The food was very average. Chile Relleno was good, Sope was crap, Tostada was soggy because the chicken was so wet. Then to top off the rude service, we were overcharged $14 on a $30 check and they made us feel like the bad guys because we wanted a refund.. come to find out she added another persons order to our table.
