I stepped outside of my comfort zone for dinner at Omakase Por Favor, and found myself confidently swimming in a sea of both familiar and new combinations of flavor.

Set in a modern, unassuming space, it’s clear in an instant that a lot of thought went into Omakase Por Favor. I commented to my dining partner that even the restroom had distinct and tasteful personality.

With a menu that leans into local, seasonal ingredients, Chef Jeana showcases her roots in Mexican cuisine. Every ingredient here serves a thoughtful function, has a role to play for each dish. From the delicate house ponzu that accompanied a bright and flavorful crab hand roll, to the perfectly fried sturgeon skin chicharron on which was served a delightful caviar.

When Chef Jeana presented a tuna dish atop a tostada, she admitted that the tuna slices were a bit heavy handed, and I panicked when I saw the thick pieces atop the tostada. Panic turned to bliss when I placed the tuna in my mouth, however, and the tuna melted on my tongue. Chef Jeana described how she broke down this 77-pound creature the day before, and I barely heard a word as I savored the buttery texture. The tostada and cilantro crema were a fine accompaniment to this dish, punctuated by tangy pomegranate arils, but the star was the soft, plentiful tuna.

The service was delightful and friendly; the intimate dining room allows for personalized attention from waitstaff who were approachable and clearly passionate about what Omakase is poised to do to the foodie scene in Lincoln and the immediate region. They were excited about the dining experience they provided, and their energy was contagious.

The food at Omakase remains grounded, in part due to authentic, local ingredients prepared without ego or hubris. Omakase Por Favor’s dishes clearly aim to celebrate food, not its chefs, though they clearly deserve that recognition as well.

The concept of omakase is all about trusting the chef and her staff to curate and assemble ingredients into a delicious and memorable meal. Chef Jeana and her crew have definitely proven themselves worthy of that trust, and I will no doubt be back, asking for more,...

It all started with an oyster shooter. That’s how my wife and I discovered a new appreciation for foods we used to avoid. We've become somewhat regulars of Omakase Por Favor, and we always look forward to trying something new and adventurous every time we visit. But it didn't start that way. Our first couple of visits we played it safe, ordering familiar sounding items off the a la carte menu. Everything was delicious with unique and creative twists. As we became more comfortable with the menu, we decided to try the oyster shooters. We were blown away! This ingredient that we previously thought fell out of a mermaid's nose, was suddenly our favorite thing to eat in the NorCal area! It was clear we had to try the Omakase and let the chef guide us through her culinary vision. And that's what we've been doing ever since. We always start (and end) every meal with the delicious oyster shooters. We don't need to look at the menu because we just want to try the omakase and see what new innovations they've concocted next. Our dismissal of things like salmon, tomatoes, cilantro, and so forth, have been dismissed. There is not an ingredient on this earth that can't come alive in Chef Jeana's hands. Now I'll still ask for no tomato on my burger at Red Robin and my wife still asks for no cilantro at our local Thai place, but when we're at Omakase, we'll eat it all and finish it with an oyster shooter!

So if I haven't made it clear enough, try the omakase at Omakase Por Favor. You may be presented with something you think you won't like, but I can almost guarantee you'll change your mind. And thankfully they recently received their liquor license. The drinks and cocktails that Tayler and Andrew mix up are perfect compliments to the amazing food. It's an eye opening experience and I can't thank Chef Jeana and her team...

Me and my bestie decided to go on a girls date and check this place out. The name omakase in japanese means "trust the chef" and por favor in Spanish is please, reflecting there Japanese Mexican fusion. They have a small patio for outdoor dining as well as a large bar area that serves as the main dining space when you enter as well as a few tables further back. Reccomended minimum age is 15 to dine there. They have a few stand alone items that you order but the main idea is to trust the chef and get a six course meal the chef has planned for the evening. This starts at $75 per person and you can do a lovely wine pairing with it (french wines) forvan additional $40. I highly recommend doing this, we were not dissapointed. They locally source everything they make and are no waste, trying to use every bit of all the foods they get in. They use peels and ends to make stocks, relishes and salsas and the menu adjusts based on what is locally available and in season. We had amazing service and the food was fabulous. I think the only downside was we were seated by the bar which was a little hard to get into as I had recently had surgery (couple weeks prior, prob should have asked for a table) and we were right in front of the door which being a cold evening let in a draft directly on us as we ate but honestly we felt these were fairly minor inconveniences. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. Definitely worth checking out
