Excellent experience - relaxed dinner for two on their outdoor patio (a large screened porch).
The location is excellent, parking is easy, and they take call ahead reservations.
The service is outstanding, I will point out that it isn't "fast food" so be prepared to wait a bit, and that does help make for a more relaxed evening. This restaurant is in the train station, and if you (literally) have a train to catch, you may want to check if there is a later train.
The food was very good but I have two quibbles - yes, quibbles.
The selection, especially if you are a vegetarian, is very limited.
I ordered the beyond burger on a bed of greens or gouse salad (no bun), and fries. You can see what I got. The bed of greens was not really a bed, there was no salad, and they forgot the fries. Now, they remedied the fries quickly and made lovely fresh, crispy fries for me and I enjoyed them. But ... at this price point, when I ask for caramelized onions on my burger, I don't expect to get them in a little plastic container. Same for the ketchup. For a 13-15 dollar burger, I would expect a little better presentation - after all they have good silverware and good napkins, not plastic spoons and paper towels.
Yes, I did say quibble, but that's why I am at 4 stars not 5.
We were served by a most wonderful young man who was attentive to allergies, and we had a nice chat with him afterwards. A great experience, but maybe they should look to the finer points of their experience, and I will up to 5 stars when I...
Read moreI'm not sure how the tack room gets such high reviews. There's not a lot of value. I've given the food many chances. It is expensive for what you get. While some things are good like the flatbread specials and the burgers are small but good. The Beet arugula salad is good as well but I wish there was a lot more arugula. But most menu items are underwhelming. I've tried the game dishes several times and they're very inconsistent and usually well overcooked with leather like meat. The portions are quite small. The $24 lobster tortellini appetizer contains 3 or 4 peices and are overly salty. The clam chowder is an absolute joke. It is salty but not tasty and there's no substance whatsoever. A few miniscule pieces of potato and I believe celery but the pieces are so few and small it's hard to tell. Clams in clam chowder - not with this recipe - perhaps a few minuscule pieces. And it's a real bummer that they don't accompany the meal with any sort of bread or pita or crackers or something. Bread is not expensive and a nice gesture when you walk in the door. It's highly unlikely anyone's going to order less due to the serving of bread because they're not going to be full on bread before they Place their order. Perhaps I'm a bit of a food snob as I learned from some very talented chefs. I could go further but let's...
Read moreI have never been so disappointed in a meal. We went for a birthday and the restaurant was not too busy. Ordered a variety of appetizers. Salads took so much time for something so simple. The lamb kebab was extremely overpriced and was one skewer. Our waiter did not make us feel like valued customers as food continued to be delayed.
For a main course, almost all of the items were burgers, but somehow that took more than 90minutes to receive and many of them were cold! We also specified a variety of allergies that would substitute the French fries for Mac and cheese, but that was forgotten and instead cross contaminated the meal.
There was a tremendous amount of bugs in the restaurant as well, making it an unappeasable experience.
I feel terrible about the birthday experience and feel like it was ruined. The whole table felt that a manager should have come over to apologize, especially as a medium rare burger shouldn't take 90+min! We were just happy to get a check and get...
