Date Night on a budget. Pizza Edition.

This was our first time eating at Yia Yia's East location. We've stopped in before but it was too busy so we went elsewhere. This night was freezing and we were running late so only a couple of tables were occupied. I came for the meal deal which is 10 bucks and some change!

My husband ordered his usual The Local, it's like a Supreme with meats and veggies. He also got a more recent favorite The Polynesian which seriously has the most random ingredients (bacon, jalapeños, cranberries, cream cheese, bbq sauce, among others) but somehow totally works.

The meal deal includes a Salad, this time I tried the Raspberry Vinaigrette. It was just okay, next time I'll stick with their Honey Mustard. I chose The Milano for my slice. I look at others on the menu but always come back to this one. Spinach, onions, my beloved capers, lemon juice, and sub out the chicken for olives. The base of Oil & Herbs instead of sauciness is a plus for me.

They accidentally forgot to sub the meat on my slice so my husband got a bonus on the house. He had his own pizza buffet going on! Gratuitous hunks of bread all around. Our food took about 20 minutes or so to come out. The cold didn't stop the steady stream of pick up customers. My make-up slice made it to the table in about 5. Place was very clean. Staff was friendly...

It's been a hot minute since I have had Yia Yia's and my first time at this location. Caught the staff just an hour before closing on a Sunday night, but I just got to town, so I was unfortunately THAT guy. Despite that, the staff was lovely. Looked like a really nice selection of beers at this location, but alas, I could only have water this trip.

We ordered an extra large The Local and I forgot just how good Yia Yia's pizza is. The Local is basically a supreme pizza, and it was super tasty. If you haven't been, Yia Yia's is New York style pizza with large, super thin crust. They do a bang up job of it too. I also had a side salad with Caesar, and while it was nothing spectacle, it was a good salad that got me some fresh greens. I'm tempted to try their full Caesar Salad, but someone at the bar ordered one and it was massive. My friends didn't want any salad, otherwise that would have been the route to go...

We got three slices of pizza (buffalo, cheese, and American) and an American baked potato plus a salad. While the other food was okay, the American pizza and potato was our biggest concern. It was COMPLETELY smothered in bbq sauce. Don’t get me wrong, I like bbq sauce, but not eating just the sauce. The pictures that I found on their website and others posted by other customers was completely different from what I got. And while I appreciated the gift card I was given after I called to notify them, I didn’t appreciate the server that later told me “it’s the only sauce on the pizza. Otherwise it would be pretty dry.” Like I don’t know how sauce on pizza works. They proceeded to tell me maybe I shouldn’t order it next time. I was disappointed when the picture no where near matched what I got. Just a heads up I guess for anyone ordering the...
