Updated review Oct 7th 2025: We came in looking for some good food and drinks to relax leading up to a family wedding this weekend. I wouldn't say that much of anything with this visit was relaxing. The drinks were a mess. First the wrong beer was brought out to the table, ok, easy fix. Waters that were ordered were forgotten. Ok, it happens. Margarita that was ordered was never brought out. We asked about it, "oh yeah, I forgot to put that it in." Forget it, we're already eating. Soda refill forgotten about and left sitting at the bar until we asked about it. None of these are really egregious, but when they all happen in one visit it becomes off-putting. Especially when the establishment isn't super busy. The food was fine. Nothing amazing other than the Chicken Fried Steak, which holds the same as before. I ordered the seasonal sliders that are listed under the burger category on the menu and all burgers come with a side. The waitress did not ask what side I would like so I assumed I was getting fries, which is what I wanted anyway. When the food arrives I literally had 3 sliders and no side. When I asked about it I was told "those don't come with a side, but you can order one if you like?" No thanks, the 3 sliders cost the same as a regular burger and fries and I wasn't in the mood to argue. Seems odd to me. The small amount of employees working seemed to be overwhelmed and understaffed. If I am being honest, this was a pretty disappointing visit all around, I'm not sure I would come back to give it a 3rd try. Valentine's day 2025: This was our first visit to Zipline Tap and Grill. I will be honest, this isn't exactly what I was expecting. I did not look at a menu or pictures so I didn't have any preconceived impressions of the place.
Food: The food was VERY delicious with pretty high end meal offerings. I did not look at a menu beforehand but when I attend a tap and grill I expect a little more of a bar/pub style food (and price), but I was not disappointed at all. The cedar plank salmon and chicken fried steak were superb. 10/10 recommend.
Service: I will preface by saying we went on Valentine's Day and had reservations. We did not have to wait for a table due to the reservation we had and as we were seated we were told we had 1 hr and 20 mins of table time. I understand why they did this, they have to keep table rotations moving so all reservations are fulfilled but I've never been given a time limit at a restaurant before. The server did a very good job, I did feel a tad rushed however.
Atmosphere: I am a bit confused on what this place wants to be. The decor, lighting, prices and food scream upscale restaurant. The loud music, multiple TV's on sports channels and glasses advertising their beer/farm equipment do not scream upscale. I am comfortable in either place but I think they would be best to pick one lane and not drive in both.
Beer: We did not order beer on this visit but we have enjoyed many of their different beer options at other establishments or purchased from a store. They have many options, all of which are superb.
Overall, I would not let anything I disliked/was confused about from keeping me from visiting this establishment again. The excellent food is more than enough to...
Read moreSo many good things to say about Zipline Tap & Grill! The atmosphere, especially the massive outdoor patio, is the perfect outdoor vibe. From the live music on Thursdays, the Edison lighting and the covered seating, you couldn't ask for better outdoor dining. I love coming here for this reason. Perfect location on the square in Fallbrook right next to the trails for an after dinner walk.
Also, the service. As someone that would frequent the restaurant prior to the Zipline takeover, the service provided now is night and day. Happy eager attentive and caring servers that act like they actually want you there and want you to have a wonderful experience. A total upgrade from the prior staff and it's so nice to be quickly served with care. I really appreciate the great service and servers here.
Now the bad, and it's only one thing but man it's a big one- the food. It is total trash. And I hate to say it because I love this place for the service and vibe but I don't think I'll order food when I visit ever again, unless it's maybe cheese curds or my kids demand fries. It is overpriced IMO as well, $112 for two adults and two kids with two beers. I gave it four separate visits before writing this review. I truly believe everything here comes from a plastic bag in the freezer and is super small portions. Salads are pre-made and reflect that. Wilted/mushy with very sparse ingredients outside of the lettuce. The kids meals are charged for entree, side, and drink seperate so you end up paying adult pricing. The kids nuggets we've ordered twice and they are hard burnt breaded balls. The steak frites - I had that this past visit and fed most of it to my dog. It tastes and looked like (texture too) the premade frozen steak strips from the freezer aisle and was awful. I had wings on my visit prior, after sending my salad back, and it was 6 tiny wings in place of the 4 large big wings they advertise because of a supplier issue. The ranch was good.
Beer is great. I'll continue to come back for that....

Firstly, I have a peanut and tree nut allergy.
I am a big fan of Zipline beers and really like this location, so I had big hopes for this restaurant.
Shortly after they opened I went there for a business lunch meeting.
I ordered the shrimp tacos. There was no mention of any peanuts or nuts on the menu. When the food came out, it smelled strongly of peanuts. I asked the waitress about it and she asked the manager. The manager repeatedly assured me that there were no nuts or peanuts even allowed in their kitchen. He told me that this was just their special sauce for the tacos.
Against my better judgement and not wanting to make a scene, I took a bite of the taco and almost immediately started to have a reaction. I ended up having to leave the meeting and dealing with the aftermath of a severe allergic reaction.
I informed the manager that their sauce definitely did have some form of peanut products in it and that I was having a reaction. I then left after paying for my food that I couldn’t eat. (They could have at least comped the food.)
I don’t like leaving bad reviews so didn’t leave this one for several months but decided to go ahead and do it to hopefully prevent them from killing someone with a worse...
