Dar Alyemen Restaurant in Cleveland is a hidden gem that delivers an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by kind staff who make you feel genuinely welcome, and it quickly becomes clear how much care they put into everything they serve.
I went with friends, and the table was filled with excitement from the start. They ordered the lamb, which came out tender, flavorful, and seasoned perfectly, it had that melt in your mouth quality that kept them raving throughout the meal. I decided on a combination of things. A plate with hummus, and beef kafta, and and order of baba ghanoush, and every bite was excellent. Both were served with their bread. The hummus was creamy with the right touch of lemon, the kafta savory and spiced beautifully, and the baba ghanoush had that smoky depth you always hope for.
The real standout, though, was the bread. Served warm and fresh from the oven tandoori maybe?, it was soft yet hearty, ideal for scooping up the dips. It’s not an exaggeration to say it was some of the best bread I’ve ever had.
To go with the food, I tried their yogurt drink, which was creamy, refreshing, and surprisingly addictive an ideal complement to the richness of the dishes. On top of that, Dar Alyemen serves complimentary red tea, and I absolutely loved it. Fragrant and calming, it was the perfect way to round out the meal.
Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the atmosphere was welcoming from start to finish. Dar Alyemen is easily one of Cleveland’s best spots for authentic, flavorful food served with true...
Read moreI placed an order for two people through Uber Eats, which ended up costing nearly $70—not cheap. Shortly after, I realized I forgot to add a bread item that only cost $1.99. I called the restaurant and asked if I could pay for the bread over the phone and have it added to my existing order. I was told I would have to place a completely new order just for the bread.
I explained that Uber Eats charges a $6.99 delivery fee for orders under $15, plus service fees, which made that option unreasonable. The staff simply said, “That’s not our business.” I even considered canceling my entire order to start fresh, but Uber Eats informed me I wouldn’t receive a refund and would still have to pay again for the new order.
I called the restaurant one last time hoping to resolve the issue, but the woman on the phone was extremely rude and abruptly told me, “You’ll get what you ordered,” before hanging up on me.
On top of that, the food tasted like it had been cooked the day before—not fresh at all. Very disappointing experience overall, both in terms of customer service and food quality. I won’t be ordering...
Read moreWe were looking for something off the beaten path to try because we had to run an errand on this side of Cleveland. We love food from the Middle East, but had never tried Yemeni. This small unassuming place that doesn't look like anything you would notice on a regular day, should be sought out if you love food from this portion of the globe. We are so glad we stopped. The Haneeth Lamb platter was such an excellent choice! Never have I had lamb more tender!! The saffron rice and the homemade hot sauce they serve alongside it was so full of flavor, spicy, but not overwhelming. The salad is so incredibly simple, but bright and fresh. The Maloog bread was a nice surprise as well. We are not big bread eaters, but this tasted like someone's little granny was in the back with her hands elbow deep in dough. It was absolutely delicious. The next time we are in the area, we will definitely...
