One or the other of us have been driving through Little Falls for over 40 years and often looking for a place to have lunch in route northwest. This time neither of us felt like the typical fast-food restaurants would suit our taste. I’m thankful for Google reviews to tip us off so that we learned of A.T. The Black & White. How did we miss this local gem that has proudly served the Little Falls local community since 1931!
I hardly recognized it as a restaurant initially – it took us going back and driving by again. It was a delightful experience! There is more room in it than one can tell from the outside. The building is quite deep with a large dining room in back.
The food we had was superb. The Bacon Lettuce Tomato Sandwich we’d rate 10 out of 10. It was on a tasty, toasted bread, and made with a quality bacon done-just-right. I had the Shrimp Fajita lettuce Wrap for $14.00. It’s a treat just how beautifully it comes to the table arrayed in lettuce cups. The Fajita seasoned shrimp were complemented by mushrooms, onions, peppers, Pepper jack cheese, and avocado sauce and lettuce cups. I didn’t need a side; it was plenty.
A delightful couple that has been coming here for years and years told us a bit about its history. We loved the wall mural and learning how it was once two buildings, including a hardware shop. The high ceilings are a delight. This made meaningful for us. And the lady who waited on us was totally stellar. She knows the menu very well, was professional, polite, quick, and so...
Read moreI had the Smokey Beet Reuben which consisted of roasted beets with smoked sea salt, Fontina cheese, sauerkraut, and homemade 1000 island on grilled marble rye bread. (Yes this is vegetarian!)
The roasted beets were very soft and had just a hint of earthiness to the experience. The rye bread was also soft, and like rye bread does, let's you know it is there with its signature taste. The sauerkraut was lovely, not overpowering, but complementary.
My only complaint about the sandwich is that the 1000 island seemed to be the dominant flavor of the whole sandwich. I understand some people may enjoy that, was a little heavy for me. Overall, I would order the sandwich again though.
Pros: Atmosphere and ambience was good, the decor was interesting. Really wish I could've seen that sweet neon sign lit up, but I'm sure it would be super bright. Service was excellent, the staff were busting their butts. Food looked amazing from everything I saw.
Cons: Really the only con I had was that it was a little loud. Hardwood floors and high ceilings, coupled with the group I was in and the large group in the back, did make conversations a bit difficult, however they do have booths, and again I'm sure 2 large groups of people are probably not a common occurrence.
Overall, I would...
Read moreI grew up in Little Falls and coming home this weekend I enjoyed the Black and White for the first time. I was not disappointed. Rather I don't know what took me so long. I can't already wait to go back. All around awesome experience. Quaint atmosphere. Lots of LF memorabilia, but tastefully displayed. So many memories shared and talked about over dinner. The service was so friendly. Jill K. is an excellent waitress!! All staff was friendly and accommodating. The food was off the charts delicious. My entire party loved their meal! I had the Pork Bahn MI sandwich which was absolutely fabulous, the cucumber and radish slaw with the made from scratch yum yum sauce was off the charts YUM YUM!!😋 😋 My wife had the Chicken Artichoke Wrap, delicious! My dad had the Linguine Alfredo with Chicken, delicious, and my nephew had the BBQ Bacon Burger, again delicious. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Can't wait to go home and visit again!! Highly recommend you go out of your way and make time to visit this restaurant!! Five star...
