Gems house of Bagels (Grandma's ) — Restaurant in Little Silver

Slow service, I was waiting for 4 minutes in a mass of people(20+ in a 10x10ft area) in the middle of their store before anyone asked who was next. Apparently it was me as no one else spoke up, maybe if they had a sign up saying where to go when you come in it might be less confusing. Does not write your name on orders called in so you need to know yiur whole order to get the right one when you stop in to pick it up. Since I was picking up for a friend I did not know the order and had to call him so he could call the store back and let them know what was ordered. This used to be my go to bagel spot in the area. Been coming here for years. Mo and his team were always on top of things. The bagels were delicious.

Several months ago the owner sold it and it simply has not been the same since. The bagels aren’t as fresh. They don’t taste as good. The bagel rings are thinner and the holes are bigger. I’m told that they use this storefront now to cook bagels for some of their other stores as well which is why the batches aren’t as good anymore.

Just not good bagels

FOOD - bagels are just not good. Very tough and dry, just not a good taste. Sandwiches were not very good.

SERVICE - service was fine. They get moderately busy in the morning. Order prepared in average time.

Atmosphere/location - somewhat small place but there is seating for dine-in. Location is on fairly main road so parking on the street can potentially be difficult when there’s not many...
