Hop DeVine — Restaurant in Livermore

Ok, lets be honest here. I was really hoping this place would be amazing because it's in my neighborhood. So maybe that skewed the result a star lower... as it was I'd give Hop DeVine a 3.4.

The food menu is basically sandwiches or salads, with a whole page devoted to a charcuterie board... a $25 charcuterie board with addons about $5 a piece... we tried three different sandwiches, the pulled pork, given 4 stars; the angry bird, which was a slightly irritated bird (not spicy at all) given 3.5 stars; and the cuban. Let me tell you, Cuban sammiches are my favorite sammiches. This was an imposter. It was an ok sammich on its own, but definitely missed all the major points that make a Cuban delicious. Two stars for me.

However, their service was great, bussing was quick and efficient, very friendly and accommodating folks. Their beer list is extensive, so long as you enjoy hoppy, bitter beers. They also have a full page, two column wine list, which sounds like a good amount to me, but I don't drink wine really so I dunno really. Overall, I'd try it again, but wouldn't really highly recommend it to folks personally. Cool to hang and have a beer as a neighborhood...

DELICIOUS! The menu at this place is not to be ignored. Fantastic, tasty options all the way around. We had the calimari, the filet melt (OMG!) and the buffalo s chicken sandwich and nothing was a disappointment, including the beer battered fries. I can't wait to go back and try about a dozen other things I wanted to order last time, but my tummy is only so big and the poke nachos were calling my name and looked amazing, and the tri tip salad looked awesome, I mean...c'mon! There were a lot of good options on tap, as well as a pretty good wine menu, but for someone who can't drink beer anymore, I would have liked to have seen a tap cider option, maybe pineapple or something seasonal, plus a good apple or pear would be great. They do have a couple of more dry, tart cider options in bottles, but for someone who prefers a pinch of sweetness, the options just weren't appealing to me so I chose the rose flight and that was a good buy with lots of options so you don't have to pigeon hole yourself into a whole bottle if you may not like it. The service was pretty darn great too! Anyway, the moral of my story is, we'll be back and you should go if you're thinking...

2024 update.

Second 2024 update. I cannot believe the service that we received. So I did let the server know that I didn't like the drink I received. I ordered this drink a number of times and this time it was just horrible. And when she brought it back she stopped a few tables over from us to talk to a guy about me returning a drink in siding their whole table to ask what's wrong with me and why I would be returning a full drink and she continued to answer and say that I don't like them and I don't like what I'm being served. I will never come back here and I will advise everyone I know to not do so either. Things like this is why it's so important higher the right people especially when they are the face of your company or business.

We used to love this location. We had a few bad experiences where the food and drinks just weren't cutting it. But we tried to go back again and it was just as bad if not worse, the food quality and size has just diminished but it's nowhere near as good as it used to be.
