My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bates Burgers in Livonia. As we took our seats at the stainless steel counter, we were immediately greeted by friendly staff who made us feel welcome.
We ordered three cheeseburgers for me, a double cheeseburger for my wife, and an order of fries to split. My wife also ordered a large chocolate milkshake and I got an Iced Tea, unsweetened.
Our burgers were cooked to perfection and served with copious amounts of caramelized onions. My buns were without sesame seeds, while my wife's double cheeseburger was served with a larger bun with sesame seeds. Sliced pickles were served on the side.
The condiments at the counter were mustard, ketchup, and a third orange bottle containing a pre-mix of both!
Our burgers were delicious and juicy, and the fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned. My wife's milkshake was thick and creamy, with a rich chocolate flavor. My iced tea was very flavorful and not watered down.
We were both impressed with the fast and friendly service at Bates Burgers. Our food was brought to our table quickly, and our server was always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed.
Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience at Bates Burgers. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was friendly and inviting.
We highly recommend Bates Burgers to anyone looking for a classic burger...
Read moreAt the time my wife and I went the HVAC was down so we had to do take out. I have only been living in Michigan the last 6+ yrs, and burgers out here are much different from the typical burger joint in California. That being said the burger's out here are smaller and it seems " smash burger's" are the norm. As far as Bates the burger's are as good as any other "smash burger" I've had, but really nothing special. Some may think since I'm from California I would say "In N Out " is king, Nope. In N Out is good but by no means the best in California. Typical mom and pop burger joints I'm use to will have the following items on the burger unless you specify otherwise: lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion. But out here most places I've gone to the burgers come with nothing but onions and maybe mustard, not sure if this is the norm but I miss the basic burgers I'm use to. The fries are also good and you get just what you expect crispy, crunchy fries. I also had a chocolate shake, which was too chocolatey but just barely acceptable. My wife had chilli cheese burger we both ordered a double but it appeared to be a single? She was not happy at all with what she selected basically didn't like any of it. Chilli was not too bad but no where near my favorite chilli from Tommy's in So Cal. Anyway I would try it again if I were in the neighborhood but I wouldn't drive out just...
Read moreIf you want a fresh, homemade little hamburger slider, this is a great little mom and pop shop. It is as big as your backseat and loud as a football game and the seating is only little retro barstools. They only take cash and there is no ATM, so come prepared. We got enough food for my husband and myself, and our three hungry boys, all under age 7 for under $40.00. The hamburgers are small and I honestly could have eaten 5, but I stopped myself at two. The double hamburger/cheeseburger looked to just be more meat, because that is what my husband and son ordered. The crinkle fries are good, but nothing to write home about and the smoke that fills the air has a smell of grilled onions and makes you drool the minute you get out of your car. My husband got a chili dog and he loved it, also got the chili cheese fries and left nothing behind. My littlest boys got hot dogs and they ate them all up. The kids ate some of the fries, but not all. They have a carryout area separate from the restaurant as well if you are more inclined to just grab and go. The staff was super friendly and they cleaned our area where we had just eaten right away in order to make room for new customers. We have been a couple times now and I completely forgot how delicious the...
