Bench Pub — Restaurant in Livonia

A couple friends and I had been here before and had an alright time but this last time was just terrible. So terrible I'm writing my first review, ever. To start we showed up it was a little packed so I anticipated slower than normal service. We got our beers and expressed that we would like some menus for food, our waitress said she'd get menus and be back. She went outside had cigarette and took so long to get back to our table after that approximately 30 to 35 minutes, kitchen closed up. Didn't even get to look at a menu. So we went next door to hungry howies to get a pizza which other patrons had done and brought it back and ate it in the bench pub. So the next time our waitress comes back she doesn't say anything, proceeds to reach towards our pizza we just bought and pluck a pepperoni off, eat it, then asks if she can get us anything else. I served for 5 years and never would have thought to eat off the customers plate, let alone in front of them. Especially after I denied them food in the first place and not mention I don't know where her hands have been. And to top everything off after that moment she proceeded to come back to our table again and again to give us a excuse after excuse as to why shes so out of it. Have gone here a few times for a quick bite and drinks. Went yesterday Sunday may 23rd and the bartender working was great. I had my daughter who is 2 and everyone loved her as she danced and played with the games there. She ended up falling asleep so my husband and I got one more beer. The shift change happened while she was napping and the new bartender proceeded to come to our table and told us that we had to leave because my daughter was too loud (because she was giggling when she woke up) and that we were disrupting many customers. (Nobody had even approached us nor complained, not even our waitress) the bartender proceeded to tell me she was in charge and so it was her call that night since no manager was there. She also had to call the manager to ask of kids were even allowed there. While I was trying to speak to her for clarification on what my 2 year old did, the cook told me I needed to leave when I hadn't done anything wrong. A group of college aged guys were being louder than anyone else in this place yet a child gets thrown out because she's being a child. Employee was absolutely rude and completely turned me off to this place. There was a basic miscommunication and she took to swearing in my face and calling me names. I maintained my cool and still paid, but I need to emphasize how horrible the customer service was. As someone who has been in restaurant management for years it was disheartening and I am horrified at the things she was saying to me. Manager was very kind and understanding but still allowed my money (beyond the drinks I ordered, because of employee mistake) to be taken. Obviously will not go again.
