TLDR: Honestly not to my taste, but it might just be my family's palate.
We live right down the street from this place but in over the 15 odd years we've lived near this place, this month was the first time my dad and I tried this out. We usually head over to the Szechuan place on Five and Middlebelt, but this is way closer and I just wanted a quick bite.
Pro: the service was prompt, I didn't have to wait long, maybe 10-15 min before my order was handed over. I suspect that the order was so quick because they had most of it ready to go- which honestly I don't blame them.
Cons: Both times I've tried their food, it was oddly flavored and the fried rice was wayyy too salty. IDK if it's just my palate though. But overall, the hot and sour soup was too ...vinegary? The tang was overpowering, there was a distinct lack of "hot" in the soup. The chicken and broccoli were doable, I did appreciate the use of all white meat chicken. The fried rice, as I mentioned before was way too salty and really more yellow then I've really ever seen fried rice. Lastly the worst part: I could taste the bad oil they used to fry up the egg roll and the crispy noodles that came with the soup. That for me was just unforgivable, it felt like they've been using really old or overused oil for this. I usually love all things fried but I couldn't take more than two bites of these. Honestly the only reason I finished the meal was because I couldn't bear the thought of wasting food. Overall, I felt like there was just a lack of flavor / spice profile throughout the meals. But I might be expecting a lot from a carry out joint in a...
Read moreI would steer clear of this place. I ordered the chicken fried rice, two egg rolls and General Tso's chicken. The meat in both the fried rice and the General Tso's was very hard and old. It seems like it was a reheat of something that was sitting in the refrigerator for a week. Also, they appear to be using a very cheap oil for cooking. It made everything very greasy. The egg rolls had plenty of cabbage but not much vegetables. This is the second Chinese restaurant I've tried locally in the past two weeks and I was disappointed in both. Although the portions are good, it can still be expensive to buy takeout from Chinese restaurants, especially if you are only buying for yourself. It looks like this place is takeout only because they have not replaced the tables and chairs that used to be in the store for dine-in eating. I'm not sure if they have delivery. I only saw one person actually working there and she had her small son with her...
Read moreI've been eating from here for atleast 12 years now and it's always ready in 10-20min for pick up so, I can order and drive there and it will already be done and ready to take home.
Food: The lunch and dinner combos are priced at an amazing value. The best things I've had are the PanPan chicken, lo mein, Tso's chicken, fried rice, crab rangoon, and shrimp rolls, I've had other food from here but these are the ones that stand out.
Service: the staff are nice people and you can be in and out in less than 60 seconds.
Atmosphere: This restaurant is mainly for takeout but they do have a few 2 seat tables that I've eaten at before a couple times. It's small but cozy and the large fishtank with live koi and a few decorations make it feel welcoming and distinct from all other Chinese restaurants I've been to. They also have tea, I haven't had it but it looks like it's freshly made.
Overall it's the only Chinese...
