We ordered angel hair pasta with meatballs, a panzeratti, chicken parmesan and eggplant parmesan. The dough on the panzeratti was pretty good, but the sauce had almost no flavor. The chicken parmesan was very bland as it seemed there was almost 0 seasoning on it. The eggplant parmesan was okay at best. This being our first time here we decided to order the bucket of spaghetti and meatballs so that we could all try some, that was a big mistake. The pasta sauce wass very one dimensional with very little flavor other than "salty." When we opened it up it looked like there were a good number of meatballs, but it turns out they were all on top of the dish and sliced in half. In total we had four underseasoned meatballs (with what seemed to be a ton of filler) for an entire tray of pasta. Just to add to that they gave us mostaccioli instead of the spaghetti that we ordered. We debated calling to let them know they messed up the order and give them a chance to fix it, but in the end we all agreed even if they gave us a credit or offered to remake it we wouldn't want to eat the food again anyway. Needless to say we won't...
Read moreI was excited to try this place because of the yelp reviews, but also because of a couple reviews I saw on Facebook. There were a few reviews on Facebook that said their pan pizza was completely mushy and over sauced. I was going to try them regardless because I want to always see for myself. I ordered one thin crust and one pan. The thin crust was OK. Not my favorite thin crust. But it wasn't bad. However, the pan pizza was horrendous. I picked it up as soon as it was ready I brought it home and I opened the box and the crust was completely deflated and so mushy and wet, it also looked and felt like it was dunked under water. I put it in the oven to try and crisp it back up for 10 minutes, but it was in edible. I ate one piece and threw it out. I was really disappointed. The sauce was extremely peppery and had some kind of bitter taste to it as well, which most likely means the sauce had gone bad and started to ferment. Gross. Really disappointed since I was looking forward to good pizza on a...
Read moreMy tastes in Italian Beef sandwiches go back over 50 years from a certain pup trailer situated on Rt64 (North Ave) in Addison, IL just west of Addison Road to Taylor Street just west of the U of I at Chgo and dozens of other less widely known places from the near west side of Chgo to west of the Fox river.
In all those years only a few places, most no longer in business, served a beef sandwich of the highest quality as my wife and I just enjoyed from Johnny Coco's. Best of all, they're very near by. I could walk the two miles there and would gladly do so if need be but it's a nice bike ride or a short hop in the car.
Finally, a great place to get the finest of Italian beef sandwiches well worth the price. The wonderful dispositions of the owners/operators is is a joy to behold. The cannoli was every bit as delicious as the beef sandwiches.
We'll be back again and again and here's wishing the proprietors the greatest of success in this wonderful...
