I had high hopes for this restaurant because of the reviews but In short my experience was terrible, to the level that I can say that this was the worst restaurant that I’ve ever ate at. Its unhygienic and meats could be a potential safety hazard.
Here are the issues that I’ve encountered while watching my food being prepared : The meat is microwaved in plastic wrap and then cooked on the grill with utensils that look the least bit clean The grill is scrapped while the food is cooking The bag of tortillas is left open, and the tamales are just microwaved before being bagged None of the containers have lids, so it’s an easy way for bugs to get in.
Our order : Chicken tamales Chicken quesadilla birria tacos Cheese burger
I brought the issues to the employee preparing the food and he became aggressive. He asked why its a problem if he microwaves the food in a very aggressive tone. He then aggressively went into the back and brought out a box containing chicken trying to prove the point that all the chicken is fresh, but the point of it being stale became more obvious because when he lifted the lid it smelled AWFUL.
To add to that, I asked why he didn’t wear gloves while preparing the food and he said that he gets tested for COVID every week, which had no relation the the question I asked.
The food tastes really bad as well, it was bland and the texture of both the meats and tortilla was flavorless. The birria tacos were good though but due to the way the food was prepared it made it unappetizing. The tamales tastes like nothing and had no flavor whatsoever, and it was extremely soggy. The quesadilla was also bland as well as the cheese burger.
Even though this is a halal Mexican food joint, I would not recommend it because of the way the food is just prepared by being microwaved and the meat being stale with what I’ve smelled when the employee brought out the box of raw chicken to show us that is was “fresh”. That was definitely at least a few days old.
When I had seen the way the food was being prepared and the raw chicken that smelled like it should be in the trash by now, I requested a refund (without having eaten the food yet because we did take out) which was denied. Because we didn’t want to waste the food or the money we had spent, we ate it anyways.
I really hope a food inspector visits the location in Lombard.
As a 19 year old who brought my family here because of the good reviews, I am extremely disappointed by the service and quality of the food let alone the sanitation and maintenance...

Read moreTo be honest some people complain about things that don’t even make sense. The people that have clearly never tried authentic Mexican food are the ones that make the biggest deals and also the ones that have never worked in the restaurant , of course. For example, authentic and actual Mexican corn (elote) has something on top called Tajin which is why it tastes a little bit sour, you can not expect all the Mexican restaurants that you have been to to taste the same or have the same stuff, everyone knows that. Not because you didn’t like how something tasted, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to get a new one, I mean why would you want another one if you didn’t like it the first place huh?. There is another review that says that the restaurant is under staffed, believe me a restaurant is not under staffed just because, employees sometimes decide not to come to work so what can be done about that? Nothing. If you get a good costumer services and the food is good why should you care if the restaurant is under staffed. If you are gonna put a review at a restaurant at least make sense with it,...
