Lilac Bakery — Restaurant in Lombard

Just okay I get treats, bread and game day cookies up here a few time a year but I won’t anymore. The one time I needed my sons cake done mission failed. Had a company cancel on me because of health issues. Contacted them for emergency help 4 days prior. I was told to send an email with image and information. I called back to confirm it was received because I didn’t get a call back that day. I was told yes it’s all good we got every and the girl asked what time Saturday I can pick it up. Came in on Saturday 3hrs prior to party and my order was ready or found. I was furious but jewel came through for us. Fixed an already made cake for us and redid the top for my son. Even gave me a discount and charged me the price of a half sheet for a full sheet because of my stress...

My daughter and I were killing time before her interview in August, and came upon Lilac Bakery. Absolutely everything looked delicious! We got Boomerangs, mini cheesecakes, Danishes, and the best – Apricot hands, and yes, everything was yummy. When my son visited from Des Moines last month, I got up at 5:00 to make the trip from Elgin to Lombard just to go to Lilac Bakery. Apricot hands and mini cheesecakes for us, and a mouse and a frog for my granddaughter. Again, everything was superb. I wish they were closer, but I’ll still make the trip at least once a month. I'll give them 3.5/5 stars for their pastries, and a 2/5 stars for the helpfulness of the staff.

Their pastries are a good notch above average. I wouldn't drive multiple towns over to get them, but they're a solid Saturday morning treat.

The staff however, is not helpful at all. They've been very rude to us every time. We went to pick up our paczki order one year, and waited in line 45 min. Got inside and was scoffed at and told "you should have gone to (some other table) to pick up your online order". No signs anywhere. No one came out to tell everyone waiting in line.

Bottom line: decent pastries, just make sure you know what you want so you don't have to interact...
