I strongly recommend visiting the botique SAMsARA Wine Company in Los Olivos. I have enjoyed the delicious wines of winemaker Matt Brady for years. His rich Chardonnays are floral on the nose with well-balanced acidity and roundness--"yummy" in short. I'm a fan of red wines, and SAMsARA has some of the most delicious Syrah and Pinot Noir, literally, in the world (in my opinion). The range of Syrahs express themselves beautifully with scents and tastes that, while faithful to the varietal, provide a highly enjoyable experience with a beautiful long finish. And the same for the more-delicate Pinot Noirs, ranging from pale to medium ruby, with captivating aromas and tastes that leave one excited about each next sip. Visiting SAMsARA, you will likely be greeted by friendly tasting room associate Maeapple, both knowledgeable and warm, who will guide you through their range of wines at your own unrushed pace, with plenty of advice on other visits you might enjoy. The combination of artisanal deliciousness from winemaker Matt and friendliness from host Maeapple is hard to find; but, you will find it here. Of course I asked Maeapple to sign me up into their wine club--the wines are exceptional, and I look forward to receiving and opening every...
Read moreWine tasting experience was excellent. Mia was our pourer; her passion/knowledge of the wines and the area, and more importantly, her very friendly approach, made the tasting even more enjoyable. The Chard was excellent, the multiple vintages/vineyards of the Pinots was a really unique, and enjoyable way to sample many excellent Pinots, and the Syrahs/Grenaches were also excellent. It's very apparent they put a lot of focus into each of their bottlings.
As a bonus, Mia also played acoustic guitar and sang for us (guitar and voice excellent) as closing time approached, making it truly one of the most enjoyable afternoons we've ever spent enjoying...

If you are in Los Olivos and consider yourself a Student of the Vine, then Samsara is not...
