head to head takout review vs. La Carreta Ordered multiple items all the same as what I purchased at la caretta. I'll start with the fact that Los came out ahead on every single item. In fact, I struggled to finish as I didn't want to stop for the next dish. But here are the details.
Chips and salsa 4/5. My only complaint was the lack of salt on the chips. The salsa was great and had a very small spice to it.
Chille rellenos (Stuffed chile) 4.5/5- this still won as there was more cheese and sauce as well as either 2 peppers or one significantly larger pepper. though I'd take either any day. The sauce had a better consistency as well.
Beef enchilada. 3.5/5. This was a great enchilada overall. The sauce was nice, thick, and flavorful. The amount of cheese was just shy of too much, and many would not conplain about that. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 was the beef was slightly dry. The consistency overall was great, and it wasn't SOGGY.
Chicken taco 4/5- right out the box. These were superior. Wrapped up and just full enough to where the fillings are not falling out as you pick it up. The chicken was moist and plentiful. The only thing it was lacking was a bit of seasoning, or this as well could have been a 5. This will be a go-to for lunch from now on.
Tamale 4/5- The consistency was great. Not mushy and plenty of filling. Lacking a little in seasoning in the filling, but the sauce made up for that. It's so much cheese. I'd love to have one with a mole sauce instead of red sauce in the future.
Chicken Chimichanga 4/5 - this was a close one. You could put these side by side and not tell the difference. I do believe this was slightly larger. And the sauce wasn't quite as salty. But overall this is a must try wherever you visit.
Overall, I'm surprised. In the past, I looked at these as very closely matched and found myself at la carreta a lot considering how busy los is normally. But this wasn't even a competition on the takeout side of things. Los is the clear winner. I'll do a few of my favorites entrées Head...
Read moreJust went here with my brother and tried to order a drink with our dinner and they wouldn’t accept our NC drivers licenses because they were the wrong direction. That we could understand, so we presented our military ID’s to the waiter, five minutes later someone above the manager came over to our table and explained they could not serve us due to the drivers license being incorrect. He stated they had been fined for accepting drivers license with the pictures in the wrong direction. I felt as if this was a lie, so I looked up the ORC code on the spot and it had no part in the section regarding identification and there was no where it mentioned the direction of ID could disqualify a patron from ordering and being served alcohol. For a first experience they let us down. A valid military ID was rejected because we had previously showed our licenses and they were not the correct direction. We are twins and have been 21 for more than six months, even the manager said we are above 21 and they still would not serve us. To top things off they brought out the wrong order to us. Overall 1/5 wouldn’t recommend...
Read moreThe last 3 times we were there we had TERRIBLE service. The last was the worst. We after sitting at our assigned table with NO menus for 15 minutes we finally got our menus. Then 20 minutes later we got our drinks, another 15 minutes before someone took our order. After ALL that time, I ordered a taco salad, figured it would be quick to fix. Well my husband and granddaughter got their food. I waited and waited and waited. The waiter said he would check on it. My husband and granddaughter were finished. Another 5 minutes I got my salad. 5 minutes later the manager I think, or someone that was supposed to be in charge, came over to apologize. Just an apology are you serious. It wasn't just the kitchens fault it was everyone's from the time we got sat at our table. We HAVE NOT been back and don't plan on going back. The other Mexican restaurant is so much better in taste, politeness, services, and...
