We stopped in for lunch and I thought it would be a great meal. My husband ordered the Bison burger and I ordered the BBQ burger (no bacon) and an appetizer of fried green tomatoes with ranch, which were average. She never brought plates for our appetizer. Each burger came with one side. My husband had onions straws ( which were good) and I asked the server about the pasta salad in advance and she assured me there wasn't any bacon in it. She even stated that she asked the kitchen staff, but it Did have bacon in it and she brought it to me anyway.. After I pointed out the bacon to her, she argued with me. When I told her I'd just get a side of fried green tomatoes to go as a replacement for the pasta salad, she tried to charge me for the replacement side. (she still charged an upcharge) I wanted them to go because by the time they could get them to us we would have been finished with our meal. Very slow service and there was only one other table seated in the whole restaurant. We never received a refill on our drinks. (Tea) After all of that and it was time to pay the bill, she shorted our change and I had to go to the bar to get our correct amount back. Over all I don't think we will be back. $15.00 for a burger and onion straws and $13.00 for my burger and pasta salad(sent back) and $8.00 for the fried green tomatoes. With little to NO customer servive. This wasn't what we expected at all. It was very dark and very dusty. (lights and ceiling fans were very dusty) There isn't much parking unless you walk to a lot down the alley behind the restaurant, which we didn't mind the walk. I love supporting local restaurants, I wish our experience would have been better.

I was the only guest when I first arrived, so no one saw me go to the wrong door and yank on it repeatedly. Plenty of parking all around in a cute little downtown, in Eastern KY. They have a nice little beer selection, so I had a seat at the bar. The Blue 🌙 was cold, and the server was quick. I wasn't expecting a bison burger, but there it was... she ensured me it had not been frozen, so I gave it a shot. I was not disappointed. I ordered it cooked to medium, and it was. The straight cut fries had just a dash of seasoning that was fitting. The place, including the bathrooms, was clean and tended to. There is a jukebox that takes cash only. This is my kind of place, on my kind of day...I feel like I didn't tip the server as much as I should have....I tried to do quick math. 🤦 I look forward to going back, I'll do better. Based on this experience, I would definitely suggest giving them a try.

I really wanted to give the Abbey restaurant a good score being a hometown eatery... sadly NO!! First of all...the music was soo loud we were unable to carry on a conversation with each other OR the server. The atmosphere was more bar like than that of a restaurant!! By the end of our meal I couldn't wait to get out of there!!! For my meal I had the Reuben sandwich with fries. The Reuben sandwich was good but GREASY!! The fries were COVERED in seasoned salt!!! My husband had the Cobb Salad with grilled chicken. Although he never thought he would ever say this... it needed LESS chicken and more salad and the guacamole had no seasoning. It also needed more dressing which he could have gotten for an additional charge!! A sandwich and a salad =$40. We were disappointed with our overall experience of eating at The Abbey!!

This was our first visit here! I have to say the waitress was awesome! Now I will mention we won’t return “bad” food or wrong food for our own reasons. But it gets 2 stars. Staff was friendly & awesome! Our waitress was bubbly and on the ball.

Now she has nothing to do with the food how its cooked. My oldest ordered a chili-mac (?) burger well done and it came very med-rare & cool & the baked potato was very underdone. She couldn’t stomach any of it. My husband ordered steak rare & it was actually perfect & the best thing on the table & his potato was great! I ordered the i think “smothered chicken?” It came out extremely overcooked and hard/dry and had a weird taste and the bacon seemed under cooked. So I didn’t eat any of it after trying a second bite. My potato (loaded) had barely any bacon/cheese and was also very under cooked and hard. But my broccoli was good so thats what i ended up eating.

We didn’t learn about where the appetizer menu was (separate from main menu on table and we thought it was a beer/wine list lol till late but we ordered anyhow) We had the fried banana peppers and a order of mozzarella sticks those were great!! My oldest also added pasta salad side and said it was very plain & didn’t have flavor except noodle. Couldn't taste mayo or anything in it & was kinda dry.

My youngest two got chicken tenders they said were ok. Fries were good but the chips my son got were mostly over cooked/burnt taste. We opted not to do dessert after feeling like dinner completely flopped. We got our bill and it was $90! I really didn’t expect it that high since the meals were $15,14 and $10 and $4 for each kid. (rounded from memory may be off a $1 or 2 on my hubbys meal).

But I have to say that waitress was so sweet, said I was tipping her to much and I was like heck no, your service was great girl! Keep it up! now if they just get the kitchen inline & maybe we’ll visit again. Maybe it was just an off...

Party of 4. We had to go get our own menus, silverware and straws after we were seated. Three of us ordered the bison burger and one a bacon cheddar burger. I had mine lettuce wrapped due to keto diet. They ordered theirs medium, mine was ordered medium rare. After a wait where it seems they had to raise the bison, then slaughter and process them all three burgers came out burnt. Mine came out without the horseradish sauce. My side was streamed broccoli instead of fries and it was about 1/4 cup worth (keto diet, I've had A LOT of practice measuring food lately) and mushy. I was quite hungry and decided to brave it as is, so did one other. The third person sent it back and when it came out again the sides on the plate were changed from chips to fries. Bacon cheddar burger was apparently over cooked too but not quite burnt. Burgers were less than good, especially for the price. Bartender topped friends Sprite off with water without asking what it was. We definitely got billed for the Sprite though. They were fairly busy but that isn't an excuse for this kind of food and service. ...
