Topsail Steamer — Restaurant in Ship Bottom

Please do yourself a favor and don’t go here. First of all when we walked in and asked how to order and what they have the owner was very rude and didn’t want to help us. He just said “they’ll help you” referring to his employees like he didn’t want to waste time talking to us. The girls working there were nice so nothing against them which is why atmosphere got 2 stars and they did help us but we were really unsure what to order and the owners made no suggestions and offered no help. We ended up ordering a bucket with two dozen clams and it came with a little bit of corn and potatoes and seasoning. This cost $50. I took the pot home and followed instructions (and am an avid cook so don’t have issues cooking) end it was not done in the time it said it would be. I put it on the stove more and about eight of the clams did not open overtime. Meaning they were bad. The seasoning also tasted awful and the corn was not fresh. It was such a disappointment- we are local to the area and have always wanted to try this and it was so bad and so overpriced. When my husband complains about the dead clams, he said, usually this doesn’t happen, so oh well. The attitude of the people and the quality of the food is extremely poor. I’ve ordered pots from Topsail Steamer many times and was more than satisfied on every occasion. At first I was a little confused on the process but the kind and helpful staff explained the process as well as guided me on what to order. Each time the cooking process went flawless and went exactly as it was explained on the instruction card. The corn, potatoes and seafood were very fresh and went well with the classic seasoning. The business interior is new, clean and well lit. The food offered for sale is well displayed and ridiculously irresistible. Purchase options are very clearly displayed. The purchase options are many, and they can be a bit overwhelming to the first-time customer, but owners Brian and Lauren are super friendly and they take the time to clearly explain everything. In conclusion, the in-store shopping experience is excellent. Then once you get home and prepare the food accordingly to the easy-to-follow instructions, the food is amazing!
