We saw this nostalgic little place and turned around and went back to get burgers, fries and a shake. The reviews looked great. I would say maybe they are posted by friends or employees. Because The burgers were nothing special. They were cold and dry with very little bacon. And the bacon was obviously pre-cooked and dried out. The onion rings were overcooked. And the large milkshake was adorable! The girl at the window was very friendly, but I came for the food. We will surely not be customers again. It's unfortunate because places like this have mostly gone out of business due to big corporations bringing in their fast food chains. They have an opportunity here to do something special because clearly the city has prevented any fast food restaurants from coming to town. Now if they would just do their part, buy quality ingredients and pay their staff enough to be good at their jobs. This could be a huge success, especially in the summer.
Added comment after Reading the establishments snarky response to my review: Yes, you are doing something right. You have been in business for 40 years. Good for you. You're keeping costs down and have an endless supply of customers so you only have to serve them once . Most establishments are not in a tourist town and they rely on return customers. Because your customers are there for one weekend and then next week you get a whole new batch of new customers that do not know any better, you are able to reset and do it all over again. If you actually made it taste good, locals would eat here regularly as well. And we would return every time we come to the area. So, It's $mart, but unfortunate that you do not care that I spent $45 there and did not...
Read moreI wish I could give the Corral Drive In and its crew working this past Sunday night (last night of Rod Run, nonetheless!) even more than five stars… 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I’ve been a visitor and fan of Long Beach for most of my 44 years, regardless the time of year, my family/friends and I always have a great time - yet I’ve NEVER eaten at the Corral until yesterday. And…oh holy chapel of all tasty goodness…Corral BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger with fried egg on top, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN all my life??? Sweet mother of mercy, you even had real, honest-to-goodness, legit Fry Sauce for my perfectly fried tots. Not to leave the “brass ring” of coastal cuisine behind, the fried cod fish & chips that I inadvertently ordered 10 minutes before closing was not only brilliantly fresh, it wasn’t too hot to eat right away, crunchy perfection on the outside and delicately tender and flaky on the inside. Besides the food, every crew member I interacted with was still friendly, helpful, and didn’t show even the slightest sign of irritation at my late arrival or menu ignorance. Corral Management: whatever you’re doing, keep it up. Your employees, your food, your simple and welcoming walk-up counter & easy-to-read menu board…all of it was outstanding to me, ESPECIALLY considering the late hour and at the end of a VERY busy weekend. Thank you for such a...
Read moreLet this be a caution to anyone who takes the Covid pandemic seriously, because management of this restaurant clearly do not. The death toll of this virus, as well as the infection rate hasn’t gone down much and it seems as if people are just giving up on trying to help others from contracting it.
Most of the staff do not wear masks when preparing your food, but they are perfectly safe behind their plastic screens. It seems as though you’ll just have to trust that the workers there are responsible outside of their work, but I wouldn’t put my money on it.
On the door there was also a pretty well photoshopped sign or disclaimer that you essentially don’t have to wear a mask if you don't want to. It listed things such as Asthma for a reason not to wear on. I’ve had Asthma since birth and unless you are on oxygen or a ventilator, you can wear a mask. A woman picking up her food wasn’t wearing a mask, and didn’t even try to social distance from the other customers getting their food.
I would leave a zero star if I could, because the food and service were...
