Flavor of Punjab — Restaurant in Long Beach

The main dishes were great, but the naan was thin, crispy, and flaky.

Within 10 minutes of being seated, a cockroach scuttled across the table where we were. I smashed it under a menu and notified the waitress, who cheerfully offered to dump it outside, but didn’t seem too concerned. Right before the food came, I went into the restroom to wash my hands, and was met with another cockroach on the center of the floor. Again, I notified the waitress, who sent in a line cook to dispatch it. Shortly after that, the waitress returned to our table to “assure” us that the roaches came in when the restaurant’s doors were left open. I find this rationale unlikely because the restroom is far from the door and was closed. Furthermore, while I’m no roach expert, I’d guess these were German cockroaches (they were small and brown), which I believe indicate an infestation as opposed to scouts.

Seeing two of them in such a short span of time, combined with the apparent lack of concern from the kitchen staff, makes me unlikely to return or recommend, which is a shame, because the food (yellow dal and mushroom mattar) was actually...

THE CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA! That's all I would read in Yelp about when I first came about the reviews. Mind you, I'm new to Indian cuisine, didn't now what to expect but I am all for spices and intense flavors. You cannot eff it up for me if you got em. What a wonderful first experience! It's Sunday, 5pm and my friend and I walked in first to be in there since they opened for their second shift. Service was great all throughout and i could not get enough of the (new to me) tastes and flavors. The chicken tikka masala at spice level 7 was amazing! I might go for a higher level but 7 crept up on me fast and I loved it! The chicken? Well done! Good number of pieces and then the sauce was on point! Spicy level was perfect and yet I'm intrigued to try again later with a higher level. The garlic naan was just an additional good side which I used to eat the rest of the sauce when I finished the rice. The naan is good by itself, don't get me wrong, but together with the curry, i think it was paradise! Definitely coming again soon and Indian cuisine is my new favorite thanks to these...

Super disappointing experience. We drove 15 mins out of our way to order takeout, we figured we would just order in person because we couldn't decide what we wanted.

My sister used the bathroom while we were looking at the menu and deciding. I could already hear the lady at the counter saying something to another worker that "they're just here to use the bathroom" but we ignored it and decided on butter chicken. I handed my sister my card to order and headed to the bathroom myself and the lady shouted at us asking if we're ever going to order anything or if we're just using their bathroom.

It was really rude and left a bad taste in our mouths. I'm sure the food is great but we were so upset at the terrible service we left. I even spoke to the lady who shouted at us and explained that we were planning on ordering and that we felt she was really rude and she just argued with me that it happens all the time so she wasn't sorry.

If you need to use their restroom at any point just be aware that they're really weird and strict...
