Pupuseria Salvadorena — Restaurant in Long Beach

I love their food. I am Guatemalan, but sure love pupusas. They're best I've had at a restaurant! The sauce kinda sucks because it's a bit runny and it doesn't taste homemade... but it does the job. I love their curtido! I've also had their salpicon, caldo de camarones, carne asada, and bistec de res... accompanied with freshly made tortillas! Love it! Try their fried plantains with cream (greasy, but yummy). To wash this all down, I recommend the salvadorean horchata, kola Shampan, melon juice, and their ensalada!!!

Customer service is not the best though. Sometimes it takes so long to have someone come to take our order, but the wait for the food is good, depending if you're here for rush hour. The place is also pretty clean, including their restroom. My biggest complain (aside from the waitresses) is when you call in an order to pick up, they only start making the food once you're there and pay for it-- which defies the purpose of...

I used to enjoy this place a lot but now-a-days it seems like their cooking just went down the drain. I mean it's a 3 star at its best in my opinion. For starters: The food is just OK. THe pupusas seem to only have a huge blob of cheese and chicharron in the middle (assuming you order a revuelta) AFter a while it's just a hassle eating through a pile of cheese and chicharron. Next: the chicken literally looks dry as it could be. I did not even bother trying it to be honest. THe service is also OK. Seimetimes the tables happen to have no utensils so you have to let them know. The price range is average to any restaurant so I cannot complain there. I will most likely not be going back for a hile. Besides, I can have mom cook the same dishes  10x better haha. I think we can all say that tho. because nobodt beats mom's cooking. I don't like to complaint I know that sometimes things are out of your hands but lately their service is been horrible I used to go and eat there but the wait is too long 45 min so I start ordering thru the phone and guess what they take forever to do it but I love their pupusas and my kids too so I decide to give them another chance, So I called 1 hour and 30 minutes before to place my order so I got there and they made me wait 20 more minutes what the heck that is why I called with enough time for them to have them ready and the worse is they didn't apologize or anything they look at me like I was doing something wrong at getting mad because the food wasn't ready never going back again I'll have to look for another place to...
