I generally don't post negative reviews but this one really requires it. My wife, sons, and I tried this place based upon other positive reviews. Granted we went on Easter Sunday afternoon, but that's no excuse for what we experienced. My wife ordered the Flounder (fresh catch) and enjoyed it but that's where the good ended. My sons and I all ordered the seafood platters, theirs was shrimp, oysters and snapper, mine oysters and snapper. The two boys received catfish instead of snapper. We questioned the order and were told the order was wrong and that they had mistakenly cooked two snapper orders and mine was the catfish. The manager came out and confirmed that the cooks said my son's orders were correct. Since I fish offshore routinely l am very comfortable identifying snapper versus catfish. I actually like both but neither of my sons like catfish. The negative review stems from being repeatedly told that the catfish they served my sons was snapper and that we essentially didnt know what we were talking about. The manager finally brought snapper to the table for my sons after about an additional 30 minutes. When the check was brought, no attempt to compensate the bill was offered. After questioning the bill, the manager deducted 10% from the bill, making it 97.00 instead of 105.00. Bottom line, I would recommend you go elsewhere if you're looking for good seafood. If you don't care what type fish you are served even though you are paying for something different, don't mind poor service (Had to ask for drink refills on several occasions before refills done), and don't mind being being straight lied to by kitchen staff, then this might be the...
Read moreI’ve been to Steve’s Marina many times over the years, but I haven’t written a review so here we go. I wish Google would allow us to rate restaurants in halves as I think Steve’s is a 4.5. Steve’s Marina is a real solid choice for those seeking, fresh gulf seafood, a great view in a classic Mississippi Gulf Coast setting. The Harbor in Long Beach is being worked on currently, so the view is of an empty Harbor but a beautiful view of the Gulf and Cat Island off in the distance. If weather permits, select to sit outside. It’s not a large restaurant and it’s usually busy which is always a good sign.
This trip I had the redfish almondine which was lightly pan fried (paneed) with a side of angel hair pasta sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and a salad. My wife had the Shrimp Diane (shrimp and mushrooms in a butter, white wine, garlic sauce over pasta. We both enjoyed our food and the view. Steve’s is well known for most of their dishes being served with a side of pasta, although you can go other routes. I would say of all the times that I’ve been to Steve’s the food has always been solid. I’ve really never had a bad meal and there is a variety of seafood dishes that you can get that are all...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped in and the outdoor seating view we had was priceless for starters. It was our 1st visit there and it was far above our expectations. We ordered the seafood nachos for appetizers yum 😋 they were crabmeat & shrimp and the sauce they use their au gratin sauce . Delicious 😋 I ordered the red bean plate with sausage & fried catfish on the side , the hubbie orders a fish po boy and it was yummie . He’s very picky about po boy breads and this bread was so so soft , they say they get bread delivered 3 times a week . It’s obvious b/c it was so fresh . The presentation of the food , the quality of the food and the prices of the food are all great . The only thing is they don’t serve bread at all with their red beans BUT you can order the bread by the loaf $2 - so I’m thinking b/c the bread is so good they encourage you to buy the loaf . We didn’t but the food was overall THE BEST ! If you haven’t been I encourage you to go and try it . We’ve passed this little gem up many of times & decided to stop in was all well worth it & our server was punctual , very nice and made great suggestions . Again, our view by the water just sealed the...
