There is a difference between eating somewhere with Gluten-Free options and eating at a Gluten-Free place. For something like myself struggling with a disease that prevents my body from processing gluten, it's ALWAYS a hunt trying to find a gluten free facility. On one of our hunts, we came across this bakery and it was a GIFT. If you're interested, I made a video on youtube about our experience there: youtu.be/OmbGei3kabg
Decor (4/5) This bakery only has one table out front, so don't come expecting to have a sit down meal. It's relatively small so it's not equipped to handle a huge volume of patrons. From the moment I walked in, everything was clean. The walls, the table tops, the register desk. The place is very well maintained and has a great flow. Once you walk in, the first thing you do is put in your order with the Baker and the last thing you do is checkout so you can be on your way.
Service (5/5) They were very good to us here. They were patient when we took our time to figure out what we wanted. When we were ready, they jumped on the scene and made sure that we were educated about the ingredients in each item we were considering.
Food (5/5) This is where you saw the difference between a bakery with gluten free options and a bakery that IS gluten free. There were TONS of options. We ended up getting the Lavender Macarons, Coconut Macaroons, Pumpkin Swirl Cheesecake, Coconut Cupcake, Chocolate Doughnut, Very Berry Doughnut, and Pumpkin Break.
Will I finish all of that food? Maybe, maybe not. Will I gain weight because of this food? Possibly. Should I go to the gym after eating all of this food? Definitely. Will I? Probably not... because of the delicious food coma that I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis shop is amazing!!!! I can't tell you how much I miss great baked goods, especially pastries, as a celiac. If you're a celiac - go here! I tried a ton of the different options they have and took them home to have. Also - they're not over sugared like a lot of shops and baked goods are.
Ever miss hostess cakes? They've got you covered, down to those cute lil swirls on the top of the cupcake.
Did you ever have those frosting animal cookies with the little dot sprinkles on them? Ones filled with absolute joy? Well - no surprise, this place nailed it.
Sick of feeling like you can't really partake in a cafe, restaurant, etc. Because of cross contamination? Have you ever had that dread that comes with knowing the best dishes on the menu or in the kitchen will definitely not be celiac safe? Well, this place has you covered. The whole place is gluten free AND they'll welcome you when you come in. I typically feel out of place when I'm at a restaurant or any food establishment that isn't a designated gluten free establishment. Not here.
When I went the staff was so kind and we ended up chatting a bit about diagnoses. The employee helping me even warmed up a mocha cookie for me in the back of the shop because it's extra special that way.
I've also tried their cheesecake and it's chef's kiss mwah.
I don't live in CA but I'm going to make sure I come back go this place every time I visit. It's on par with Mariposa in SF or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst off, the goodies here can be enjoyed by gluten intolerants and gluten gluttons alike. I bought the cornbread, pumpkin bread, lavender citrus biscotti and sugar cookie. The lavender citrus biscotti was en pointe. It was just soft enough that I wouldn't have to gnaw on it to break it down and it had that roasted flavor I like of biscotti. The lavender and citrus was subtle. When I bit into it, I smelled lavender and candied citrus. I accidentally got the sugar cookie when I really wanted the linzer but that was on me. I didn't know what a linzer was. I don't like too much sugar in my sweets. The sugar cookie itself was good, not overpoweringly sweet, but the sugar crystals detracted from the taste in my case. I will go back next time to try their linzer...and pretty much everything else. I ate the cornbread much later after I got it. It was good but would be even better slightly toasted in the oven and topped with some butter and eaten with tea. It was soft and slightly crumbly, not at all gritty. I didn't like the pumpkin loaf because it had chocolate in it, but that's my preference. Anytime I eat chocolate and pumpkin to me they have a burnt taste. My hobby is blowing all my money on tasty food. I will go broke here, quite happily. Now if they became a coffeeshop, I would stay here all day eating and working on...
