El Pastor Taqueria — Restaurant in Long Branch

This is a friendly family-run business. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained. My husband had the asada beef tacos with guacamole. There were 4 in the order. They were delicious. I only remembered to snap a pic after we ate most of them. I had the aguachile negro. It had a delicious flavor but there were regular fresh shrimp mixed in with the aguachile shrimp. My guess is that they ran out of the aguachile shrimp and completed the order with regular shrimp. I would have preferred to be told of the situation and therefore giving me the option to choose something else. And the aguachile shrimp were a little "overcooked" or over-marinated which makes me think they may have been from yesterday. We recently tried this charming little mom-and-pop Mexican restaurant in Long Branch — just a quick 5-minute drive from the beach — and it did not disappoint. The food was fresh, full of flavor, and served in generous portions. You can tell everything is made with care. Blanca, our server, was so kind and attentive, and Max was chefing it up in the kitchen — major compliments to both of them for making our visit feel extra welcoming.

The decor is simple and unpretentious, but don't let that fool you — the food speaks for itself. We heard they’re planning some updates, and honestly, the warm service and quality dishes already make this place a standout. This will definitely be a staple for us whenever we’re at the beach....

I write this while sitting at the table after just finishing my food. Little hole in the wall spot in long branch. They do not get as much recognition as they should. Some of the best quesabirria tacos I’ve had. They provide all the sauces, limes, onions etc. for you to enjoy the meal with to the fullest extent. I live in Tinton Falls, I found out about this place about 3-4 months ago and I have made it a mission to make my way back in here at least one or two times a month. The staff are some of the best and friendliest people as well. Very understanding about those who might not speak spanish and always have great customer service every time i'm in there.
