The food is mediocre at best however the service is subpar and really drags this place down. We waited nearly 40 minutes for our appetizers (boneless wings) to arrive and despite ordering them 15 minutes before our entrees all the food came out within about 3 minutes between courses. Clearly our appetizers had been sitting for a while as they were lukewarm and only arrived after we asked about their status to our waitress.
The “Wings Wednesday” special for boneless wings they have advertised is apparently not known by the staff as they failed to give us the deal on our check and when we asked about it they seemed confused and unsure of how it worked. Eventually they adjusted the price to reflect their advertised deal.
Do not under any circumstance go on a Wednesday unless you want to be subjected to excessively loud and obnoxious karaoke. Not only was it obnoxiously loud but it was unending without so much as a 5 minute break in the 2 hours we spent for dinner. The karaoke had already started at 7pm when we arrived so any chance of a quiet dinner before it starts is unlikely.
On top of all these issues they have the nerve to charge a service charge for credit cards that was not explained nor posted anywhere. There are far better sports bars in the area than MJ’s, I would recommend avoiding at least until they get their...
Read moreWe frequent this location because we live in the neighborhood and was excited that an MJ’s opened up nearby. It was great until it wasn’t… and tonight definitely was not! We ordered 2 classic cheeseburgers with smoked Gouda and instead we received 2 mushroom burgers with smoked Gouda. I told the bartender we didn’t order anything with mushroom and that we wanted classic cheeseburgers with smoked Gouda. And she insisted that that was what we ordered and she gave the other young lady who delivered the food a look like we don’t know what we’re talking about, which was not appreciated! Well, we were both hungry and I hate to waste food, so we did eat them. Food was good. Service could be a lot better. Because when I looked back on their menu, I knew I was right and that Classic Cheeseburger is your typical cheeseburger - meat, cheese and bun! And on the menu, it stated that you get a choice of cheese and smoked Gouda was one of the choices. Maybe the bartender should learn the menu much better and not upcharge us like she did tonight! Disappointing. Will not be returning to this location any time soon. Maybe we’ll get better service at the other locations and get the food we actually order without sneaking in...
Read moreI've been a regular here since it opened, which is why it's 2 star instead of 1. But I went Thursday night and it was the final straw. Service has been lacking my last few visits. Long waits for service and food, with the order always missing something small that I need to ask for again. The other night, when the bar was pretty quiet (especially for Thursday football!) and I was the only one not yet served, it took 10 minutes to get attention of a bartender. When I got my beer, it tasted metallic, more than a canned beer. The taste stayed in my mouth until I went to a different restaurant to eat.
It took several attempts of saying "excuse me", in a quiet bar, to get attention letting them know I wasn't accepting the beer. Last several visits, beer tasted off or was flat, but a new pour sufficed. But metallic beer? I didn't want to keep drinking that. They need to clean their keg system.
Some of the better bartenders are no longer there. Being a regular, it's a shame not to see familiar faces who know my order. One of the lackluster bartenders once gave me a Manhattan using Irish whisky. At the time I didn't make a fuss, but it adds up now to the reason why I won't go...
