Tyler's Gourmet Ice Cream — Restaurant in Longboat Key

Oh. My. Gosh. I wish I could mail order this ice cream shop and have it shipped to northern Kentucky. I got a simple chocolate milkshake, and it was MAGICAL. The prices are competitive for the area (long key- everything is expensive here), and honestly I'd pay more than what I paid for my milkshake. All their ice cream was homemade (which is why I didn't get a coffee milkshake- caffeine is a no go for me and their coffee ice cream has actual real coffee in it), and while I only had the chocolate it all looked fabulous. My dad had Mississippi mudslide (coffee with fudge and Oreo cookie I believe?) as a scoop and loved it. My mom and aunt both had "iced cappuccinos" in mocha- essentially a chocolate shake with coffee blended in iirc. Those were on special for 4$. They both had them finished by the time we got to the beach on the next key.

I should probably stop raving about their ice cream and talk about the shop itself, now. It's lovely inside- air conditioned, high ceilings, lots of seating, etc. Very clean, colorful, and modern. Lots of parking space and little to no wait for service. The girl working at the counter was super friendly/helpful, and was happy to answer my stupid questions, like whether or not the coffee ice cream actually had caffeine.

tl;dr- If you want to get probably the best ice cream on long key, or you just want to get ice cream for four for under 20$, go here. You won't regret it.

Just an honest review here. Stopped by about a year ago, and everything was good. This time (May 2022), it had a terrible fishy/seafood smell when you walked in- just not what you expect to smell walking into an ice cream store. It wasn't even like a good seafood smell, anyway, it seems like they do ice cream and seafood (lobster?) now? Got our ice cream and got outside quick. The ice cream is decent but if I had to eat inside I would find another place. Then my kid had to pee. I begged him: could he hold it the 5 minutes back to our house? He informed me he couldn't so we had to go back in. The bathroom was worse it was like a porta potty smell and then you could still catch the seafood smell in it, I put my shirt over my nose and I just wanted out.
