First time to stay in Longview, so we had to try it here. The staff was warm and friendly but the food was just ok. We both got the $18 fisherman's platter. The batter lacked flavor, but the stuffed shrimp and crab cake were pretty good. Wished I had something grilled or the crawfish etouffee, which night have been better. Blooming onion was not fully cooked in the center but the rest of it tasted ok, though a little too oily for me. I was impressed with the variety of TYPES of seafood (crawfish, fish, shrimp, oysters, clams, crab, frogs legs and more... even the elusive soft shell crab for $24). I don't know if it's rated highly because it's the best in the area, or the great staff, or since the locals clearly love it... But as an unbiased foodie-esque couple just passing through, I was actually disappointed. For what WE got, we both felt the prices and rating were both just a little too high for the quality of the food. (See photo for what almost $50 in food gets ya.) I did notice a fairly extensive a la carte section. Seems like a good way to pull together a perhaps better meal for less dough. A little about the vibe: it's extremely casual, comfortable, and perfect for families. Tee shirts and flip flops are welcome here, it's very casual. I probably wouldn't suggest it for an out-of-town date night, as there's really no space for romantic moments there. Again, all of this is based on a non-local opinion. We LOOOOVE trying out the favorite local joints as we travel all fover Texas. The Fisherman's Market in Longview, Texas is a nice little place to eat with ok fried food. Go for the staff, variety of seafood options, and the family friendliness.

Honestly, my first visit here was a mixed bag. The exterior was nicely maintained, but the interior could use a bit of a facelift. Our waitress was attentive and polite, although she could work on her table manners. As for the food, the seasoning was a bit off for me. The crawfish spaghetti was an acquired taste - it wasn't bad, but it wasn't my favorite either. The fish looked great, and others told me it could be fried more crispy but it'll pass.. On the plus side, the fried jalapeños were a hit, especially if you like spicy food. I did get a chance to try some of the oysters off someone else's plate dining with me, the oysters had more than enough shredded cheese which could have been better without. I had a miniature pearl in my oyster that hurt my tooth a little bit. I wasn't pleased at all about that but overall, it's a decent spot, but there's room for improvement.

Been a while since me and the wife have ate at this restaurant. This restaurant has been here a long time and we have frequented it over the years. There has been some changes to the front of the building, and a revamp on the brand. A more modern approach. Not much was done inside but it still is a near place. Food was really good. We had chargrilled pysters for appetizers, and they were really good. I always try to get chargrilled oysters where ever I go, and these did not disappoint. 6 for under $15. That's about the going rate. Had a bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo and it was good as well. Gumbo is always different no matter where you go. We also tried the fried catfish. Mini crabcakes, and fried crawfish tails. All prepared great. No complaints. Service was accommodation and helpful. We will definitely be going back especially for the oysters.

Fisherman's Market has always been my "go to" for fresh seafood in Longview. It is where the locals have eaten since 1973. I worked for the original owner doing some other stuff in the early 1980s. I usually eat there every Friday and I have always had a great experience until Friday, the 18th of July. This was at 7pm. First the hosts and hostess's were arguing about who was going to seat me. After they figure that out, the young man seated me in one place, then moved me. Ok. I can live with that. I ordered a Cajun Grilled Shrimp with comes with two sides and a slice of bread. I ordered a salad with one of my sides. The waiter said that I would get tomatoes only if I got the salad before the meal. If I received it with the meal, then I would get croutons too. I have never heard that before and figured it must be a new rule or something. I got the salad before the meal. The server waiting on some others and then said, oh yea I forgot your salad dressing. Let me get that. Ok, I have been a server. It happens. Then somebody else ( I suppose a Food Runner or helper) brought my shrimp out. There was grilled shrimp in one plate with butter sauce and one green bell peppers. I usually get more bell peppers than one. No problem. I have a lot of patience with restaurants. I know. Anyhow the shrimp was in a plate on a plate which should have had my french fries. It did not. Nobody asked me if my meal was ok as usual, and I had to wait to finally summon a young lady who was not my server. I asked her where my second side (french fries) was? She said oh. Ran to get it and delivered it. Ok. At this point, I am assuming it was a bad night. No problem. Well, a few minutes later after I finished, my server showed up with my bread on a separate plate. I am thinking at this point, that everybody is training. As I ate my grilled shrimp, I noticed that it didn't look right and really didn't taste like usual in some spots. The server brought my check and didn't ask if I needed something else or if the food was ok? I pulled my card out and had to wait 30 minutes for him to take it. I finally was able to summon him. I told you earlier that the shrimp didn't taste right. Guess what? Food poisoning! Diarrhea all night and all day today which still hasn't let up. I have never ever had a bad experience at this place from servers or chefs. Tonight though, was absolutely terrible all the way around. Much more of this, and I will not be back. It is really ashamed because Fisherman's Market used to be the "Class" of seafood in Longview. Where the locals go because of where it is based. I am fairly certain that this will not happen again, because if it does I will...

We haven't been in a couple/three years. (For several different reasons) we heard today from a friend about how better it was and a bonus it had crawlfish and it was really good. Well tonight we went and first a small issue with parking but not truly a big issue. Walk in and we got greeted immediately. However the host's tried to sit us in a spot that it a very tight fit to shimmy through unless you're an XS. Took a bit after she left to find a way to the table with apologizing to people getting through. Then we notice other tables open. Got two menus instead of three for us. Not that we don't mind sharing during this time. We all three Ordered our drinks which was a beer. After we are served our beers we were asked about food then we ask about the boiled crawfish which was our only reason we came and where told they just ran out like 20min prior our arrival. Okay we understand that things happen but please let us know when seated or the waitress when seated prior to drink order. So we had a person with us that real and truly only wanted crawfish tonight. So we choose to just pay for our drinks that just arrived and leave. The waitress abruptly left nicely to get our ticket. The host`s brought our ticket to us and I asked if we pay at the table. Which she said she would take care of it but as she turned she rolled her eyes. She came back and i said thank you which she just gave me the card and walked away rolling her eyes again quickly. The host's was very disrespectful. We where nice and understood about running out of things during this time. Don't plan...
