I would have to say this is one of the best times eating out that I have ever had! First let's start with the great waitress we had, we first let her know that we had a Groupon for 4 and she pointed us to all of the best choices:
1.)The Combination Platter - A half onion brick served /w BBQ sauce, four spicy wings served /w bleu cheese dressing, and their homemade guacamole, served /w chips and salsa.
2.)The Triple Platter - Mozzarella sticks served /w marinara sauce, potato skins served /w sour cream, and spicy wings. served /w bleu cheese.
The homemade guacamole is just as good as my own (as I feel that the chopped tomatoes along with a few other ingredients really make it), and not just some mashed avocados. The mozzarella sticks /w marinara sauce are the best I have ever had, with the light crispy coating and a perfect matching sauce. Now the only bad thing I could say is that you should be able to order the Hot Wings at lower heat levels as I have never had ones this hot or even close to it, plus the starters were so filling that it was hard to eat the entrees. Also the sourdough bread they bring most restaurants bring barely enough butter, where here they bring you more than enough.
Then for the entrees we all ordered either the tri-tip or rack of ribs which just as good as I do at home where you start them the day before with doing a rub then wrapping them up and letting sit in the fridge overnight and the next morning slow cooking them all day long with finishing them on the grill with some BBQ sauce. As for the sides I picked the garlic mashed which tasted way better than they looked and then the corn fritters that was like a party in your mouth, nice and crunchy with a sweet corn flavor inside. As for the drinks three of us ordered the Stella Artois which they have on tap that came in a 22 oz. larger than normal pilsner glass that was not too little or too big and perfect size for the meal.
I don’t know if I could eat here on a regular basis as the prices are not the great bargain as what we got on a groupon and in these tougher times we would not be able to splurge on some of the top items, even though there are so many choices that are tempting. The only two questions I have is how did they ever come up with the large amount of selections that they have on their menu and how does the kitchen handle so many items so well? After looking at their menu I wish that I was a food critic along with being paid too sample so many of their items, with someone else picking...
Read moreVisited on a Saturday evening. It was busy of course and the restaurant doesn't take reservations. Put name on list at 6:35pm and was told it'd be 45 minute wait. Ok. Was told at some point we'd be seated at a table for two, then overheard a server tell the hostess not to seat anyone at the table because they needed to use the chairs. The server took both chairs and returned with one. Went up and asked about the table and was told they needed another chair for it. My guest did comment why were we told we'd be seated at a certain table, just to have them take a chair away from it? We continued to wait and were seated at approximately 7:30pm. When the manager/owner walked by each table to check on the patrons, he stopped at our table. He mentioned that he looked at the wait list and we were only waiting for 30 minutes. My guest and myself both stated that wasn't true, we'd been waiting longer than that. Plus we'd initially been told the wait was 45 minutes; why would we say anything about a time under the 45? Then he said that we could've always asked for some bread; that eating a little bread can be calming. I'm thinking what? He then went on to say that sometimes God wants us in certain places at different times/longer times. My goodness. Honestly, this rubbed my guest and myself the wrong way. He could have easily just said, I'm so sorry about the wait, it's so busy tonight. We're trying to seat everyone as quickly as we can. Thank you for your patience, we're glad you're dining with us tonight. But no. Plus, really? He basically came over to our table for the sole purpose to tell us he personally checked the list and we were wrong? Yuck.
We started with half of an onion brick that came with bbq dipping sauce. It was good but the closer you got to the middle of the onion brick, the onions were a tad mushy.
I had the bbq chicken, sauteed vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. It was good.
My guest had fried shrimp and mac and cheese. The shrimp was over fried, a dark brown color. While a mac and cheese fan, she hardly ate any here.
We ordered two cocktails, a classic margarita and a blackberry bramble. Both...
Read moreStopped by on 25JAN2020 for lunch. We've never been here, even though we have driven by it many times. We just never noticed it. But, I am sure glad we stopped.
This was a late lunch, so we were hungry. After perusing the menu, I had the tri-tip sandwich with fries and a side of cole slaw. My wife had the combo of half a tri-tip sandwich and a green salad.
When our order arrived, I was surprised at how big the sandwich was. I was also very happy that it came with a ramekin of au jus. Now, I am a former chef and worked at Reuben's Plankhouse as a kitchen manager, and this is the best beef I have tasted since then. This tri-tip was amazing, and the au jus was outstanding. The fries were nice and crispy and the coleslaw was crisp and tasty and had the right amount of mayo and seasoning. My sandwich was $16.00 (I believe that is correct). My wife's was about the same. We only drank water. We had no desert.
My impression of this restaurant is that they probably serve the best steaks in town, and we can't wait to go back some time. This place is not cheap, but quality costs. and I am sure the food is worth the money (their menu is online). This is a true dinner house. I love the ambiance and the decor. They have a real bar and we were informed that they regularly have live music. This is gonna be my new go-to restaurant for great food.
Finally, our server Emily was knowledgeable, polite and prompt and very good at her job. We wish her well in her future pursuits.
Give this restaurant a try sometime. I'm only sorry that we did not 'find' this...
