This morning I tried the Solano Flatbread which was recommended by the waiter... I completely forgot to take a picture of my plate prior to me attacking it because it looked so good .. I remembered halfways, after I had to take a breather n almost bit off a finger...(J.K)..... I would definitely order this plate again. Solano Flatbread. (bread, beans, chorizo, egg n jalapeno scramble with avocado n salsa on top .. The Academy Cafe is a great place to visit. Half museum half 50s diner.... Always a measure to visit...

Cool setup with 3 U-shaped counters, design evocative of police uniforms, and tons of interesting photos on the walls. The food was among the best executed diners in LA, a city rife with diners, so that says a lot. Menu items have fun names and low prices as well. Adjacent hallways have interesting sports display cases and a gift shop.

Food is pretty good. Reasonable price. Way cheaper compared to other cafe. Its open to public. Not too many people know this. Steak and egg. Reasonable portion. Not too much food like most American restaurant. Steak and egg with ice coffee only 15 dollars.

Definitely a sense of nostalgia here. Looks like the cafes of the old days, like even as far back as the 50s. The location is very interesting, nestled in a wooded hillside, as there is a museum, a gun shop, a gun range, and Police Academy next door. Food is good, prices are good,...
