Most people start the new year with resolutions to become more fit or healthy. I too am one of those individuals who strive for health and fitness! It's been a while since I have gone out for a hike, and I decided that it was time to get out there and enjoy some nature.
I wanted to look for something relatively close to downtown LA. I knew this was going to be near impossible since Downtown is basically an urban jungle, but I was optimistic. And behold! Right next to Dodger Stadium, there was a giant park that I never seemed to realize existed.
The park itself was very large. I wasn't sure where the trail began, so I just looked for a place to park. Parking lots were available but most people seem to have parked along the streets, just make sure to read the signs!
After I found a spot, it was time to search for the trail. I realized the easiest way on to the trail was to find the "Grace E. Simons Lodge" sign. From there you will see a little dirt path going up the hill. It's a very nice trail with wide open space, slight inclines and very beginner friendly. But if you're into something more demanding, this is just a quick substitute if you can't make it to Chantry Flats everyday. The one problem I've been encountering is the new neighborhood nearby. This place has become popular with the locals, both the rich and the homeless. Sometimes it's hard to decipher who is who. Sometimes it doesn't matter because those rich hipsters can be weirder than a scorn...

Covid19 has really messed up normal life for most of us Normal people. After our talk we decided to walk around the parks outermost trail. The sun had just set. Maybe a block into our walk i saw a snake in front of our path. I reached for my friend, but wasnt able to stop her. Seeing the snake spooked and her and survival instinct kicked in. She took one step toward the now scared snake who had turned around and slithered away from our path. Needless to say our walk was over. It wasnt the parks fault it wasnt the snakes fault. Its just the a way of nature. If the weather is hot, reptiles come out do whatever it is...
