On 11/29, I went to Bangin' Bun in North Hollywood to grab food for my lunch. After picking up my order, I headed straight to work. When I arrived, I opened the plate and realized they had given me the wrong order entirely. I called the restaurant and spoke to a cashier named "Gabriella." I explained that I had received someone else’s order, which was not what I had requested. She apologized and told me she would inform her manager. Gabriella instructed me to come back whenever I could, so they could fix my order. Since I was at work, I provided her with my name and was told I could return at my convenience to receive the correct order.
On 12/8, I called the location again to explain the situation and let them know I would be coming to pick up my corrected order. I also mentioned that I planned to purchase additional meals for my family. The cashier I spoke to responded rudely, saying, “Umm… we don’t give out FREE food here,” as if I was some homeless person begging for food. I calmly clarified that it wasn’t “free food” but a replacement for a meal that had been mistakenly prepared on their end. The error was their responsibility.
The cashier interrupted me, asking for my name. I told her my name was "Nina" and even spelled it out for her. She repeatedly mispronounced it, saying “Lina” or “Inna,” even after I corrected her multiple times. Frustrated, I said, “Nina, but Lina can work as well.” I then asked who I was speaking to, but she just laughed and hung up on me.
I called back twice, but she intentionally did not answer my calls. Left with no other option, I drove to the location. When I arrived and asked if she was the one I spoke to on the phone, she smugly replied, “YUP.” I asked to speak with the manager. As I was explaining the situation to him, she stood behind him, smirking, laughing, and looking directly at me as if she was proud of her behavior.
This was infuriating, so I asked her, “What’s so funny?” Instead of addressing her unprofessional behavior, the manager turned to me and asked, “What’s your problem, and why are you acting this way?” His response implied that her actions were acceptable and normal. I was shocked. I told him I didn’t even want the food anymore—it was about how disrespectful and unprofessional she had been, and how she was continuing to mock me while he was speaking to me.
Instead of resolving the issue, the manager seemed to take her side. Frustrated, I asked for the owner Sam’s contact information. The manager refused to provide it, saying, “I can’t give you that.” I then offered to leave my phone number so the owner could contact me, but he declined and told me to “just leave a Yelp review.”
As a manager, I would have expected him to care about avoiding bad reviews or ensuring proper customer care, You should absolutely care about the reviews left by customers, as they can significantly impact the restaurant's reputation, customer flow, and overall business. but his dismissive attitude made it clear he didn’t. I’m at a loss for words. This experience was unacceptable, and I hope no other customer is ever treated...
Read moreForgot to take photos!* . Well let me start off by saying.. the food was Delicious! As for any Chicken Sandwich spot.. fries were spot on. Thin Cut Fries.. the Chicken sandwich was really good, I had the Bangin Spice (I love spicy foods, and this was Hot. Left a burning sensation for a couple of min) I also tried the Bangin + (which is the their hottest one,, my goodness it was very spicy, felt the burn for about 20min) My wife got Medium and she is sensitive to spicy, and medium she was feeling it.. so I would pick your poison on it. . Reason why I give it a 2 star... Customer service is Really bad.. My wife had to Guide 5 customers how to order (even us, kinda waited in line to order). really no direction how to order besides a paper on the wall to the left. Needs to be a bigger sign or another place where typically the register would be, even the worker gave attitude to order Online. and due to the reason we saw a couple of customers leave too . Ordered banana pudding online.. they didn't put it in my carry out bag (always check your order) i inquired about it,, they said it's sold out.. gave no solution to compensate or refund..(would have been nice for them to say, "ohh we're out of banana pudding or etc.. can you get you extra fries or etc" . Ordered strawberry lemonade.. all gone, no mango lemonade also . Had to ask for napkins/ketchup.. would be great to have easy access to those. . We sat In the table, asked for a towel to clean it.. they said the didn't have any towels, so we brushed it with napkins. Had to share my napkins with other customers, so they can clean their tables . Music inside is unbearably too loud.. gotta yell to have a conversation. . Pricing online was different from what was shown on menu inside if money matters . . This place would probably be accurate around a 4.5 or above if this place was well organized or the front house tried harder..it's hard for me to give a 2 star.. but man.. the service is just as important as the taste of the food.. I enjoyed the...
Read morePopped in tonight to check out how Bangin these buns were.
Local to my area it was nice to see a spot that has turned from parking lot to brick and mortar. Looking at some of the photos I was a bit overwhelmed by how crowded the place can get. Coming in around 7:30 pm there was no line but people waiting for their orders. About 8:00 pm people started to walk in the door and the line was just about to head out the door.
The place is a bit small for the crowd that it attracts so I would suggest getting your order to go if there are no places to sit. The good thing is when your order is ready they will ask if you wanted your order for here or to go. While waiting for my food I noticed the music playing inside was a lot of tech house. Interesting choice for a chicken spot, but was very pleasant.
I've tried many fried chicken spots like Bangin Buns all around LA and here are my thoughts. I think the chicken strips were good. Ordered the spicy spice level and didn't break a sweat. The chicken is nice and tender and great on its own. I think the bun needs some work so they were not bangin. The craft of the entire sandwich was poorly put together as I grabbed for the sandwich, everything just plopped into my box of fries. The sandwich is messy so prepare yourself for some napkin action. Fries in my opinion were ok. I love the crinkle cut fries but overly seasoned.
Overall I would love to come back and try their spiciest level they have to offer and would only order them as tenders. (maybe one more sandwich for the road)
Parking: Private lot that is confusing as heck. Street parking.
VERDICT:...
