I have to initiate a review of this place but unlike the other places I will not issue a follow up review because of the overall experience and the price of the items I purchased from this establishment. I have sought out and been to many BBQ house from Las Vegas to Los Angeles and my concern with this place is the sticker price for what I received. This place is a take out place so there for I didn't know what surprise I was into until I got home. The people at this location were very kind, and polite and based on their comments on the food I purchased 1 pound of their Brisket for $45 dollars, and what is called their "Dinosaur Beef Rib." for $39. When I arrived home I began to dig into the food and started with the Brisket.
The Brisket that I spent $45 Dollars for was at best 75% if not 80% percent fat with very tiny pieces of meat into that web of fat. I could barely find anything worth eating from that Brisket.
The "Dinosaur Beef Rib," there was some good meat on it, but it to had it's share of "FAT." The meat did exactly what it should, fell of the rib bone as expected when it is steamed or cooked correctly. The rib was cooked / steamed perfectly as expected. As I began to tare into the meat, it to became somewhat of an issue for me as there was a good amount of fat that I had to discard from the meat. Finally the meat was over seasoned to top it off. Overall for the price of $92.19, very little brisket to consume and the over seasoned rib that had it's share of fat in it I will continue to visit Dr. Hogly Wogly's BBQ place on Sepulveda Blvd. in Van Nuys. It was great that I dealt with the food first before spending what would have been several hundreds of dollars on this for my employees only to hear the same concerns i addressed in my review. Thank you for the customer service, very very nice people but I was there for...
Read moreI know barbecue and I know Bludso's going all the way back to Compton many years ago. I was a little concerned ordering because I see people complaining about the price and small portions. We ordered extra food just to be on the safe side.
For $100, we got plenty of food to feed four people with leftovers for another meal. Not a bad value at all! But it all comes down to how good the food is.
The food was absolutely superb. The ribs were on point. The chicken was moist and super tasty. You can't get better hot links. The sides were wonderful as well. Just like they've always been.
Initially I only had one complaint and that was that they need to mark which barbecue sauces are hot and which are mild. Keep in mind, the hot barbecue sauce is actually hot. But, once I turned up the lights I see they had actually marked the lids. Wonderful.
There are so few good barbecue places in Los Angeles and not many in the San Fernando Valley. Super stoked to see this legendary barbecue place have an outlet...
Read moreIt's take out only credit card only. Very clean.
Texas style BBQ. I've been there a lot and had almost everything on the menu.
My wife's favorite thing is the smoked chicken salad. It's enough for 2. Get dressing on side so lettuce doesn't wilt by time you get home. I agree with my wife.
The ribs, rib tips and brisket are solid. I prefer thevfatty rather than lean brisket.
The pulled pork, smoked turkey, pulled chicken and brisket sandwiches are very tasty. Get sauce and coleslaw on the side so the bun won't soggy before your ready to eat the sandwiches.
Parking us really street only because lot fits 1 car....
