It seems the intersection of Woodman and Saticoy in Panorama City adjacent North Hollywood is becoming a nexus for vegetarian Mexican food…well, there are 2 places anyway…the pop-up completely vegan place that operates there most nights, and a couple blocks east on Saticoy is Mi Ranchita Veracruz…not at all a vegan or vegetarian place, but with plenty of options for those with that diet. It’s a hole in the wall place not really near anything (ie it’s a destination itself and not so much a neighborhood good for walking around and browsing) that offers super tasty Mexican food with lots and lots of vegetarian items.
First off, their black beans are vegetarian. (though sadly not their rice which is made with chicken stock) Second, they offer a potato taquito dish (which I got) which are served with guacamole, very fresh cotija cheese, and lettuce. They were excellent.
My wife fell in love with The veggie tacos which contained very fresh vegetables and a sauce on it that she craved for weeks after visiting. She kept saying over and over these are so good…these are so good. (Full disclosure, we went back a second time and my wife didn’t enjoy them as much…they were prepared differently than the first time and the sauce which she loved was not as prominent.)
We also shared an order of plantains with the sweet milk sauce on the side (because my wife eats vegan and generally avoids sugar.) These plantains were among the freshest best tasting fried plantains we’d ever had. They were super tasty and sweet, even without the sauce, and kind of like eating candy with the sauce.
They also have vegetarian tamales, burritos and other options. We will definitely be to try more.
Be aware, some vegetarian options they offer are not on their in-store menu including the veggie tacos and potato taquitos…so if you’re a vegetarian, make sure to ask about these.
The food is also inexpensive! Really well priced for what we got compared to similar amounts of food at other...
Read moreI should have read the last post prior to coming by. Disappointed for sure. My Dad and I were in the area and were looking for Mexican food. We should’ve turned back once we got in. The hospitality was dismal. No expression or energy. Not one word said until we asked about the menu. Not even the easiest thing, playing Mexican music for ambience.
Once we ordered we were shocked $41 for two burritos. That’s the second red flag. Chipotle would have been under and been better. The food was not worth that. My Dad’s burrito had meat crumbs really and you could’ve whipped up my veggie burrito at your house. My Dad said his wet burrito tasted like canned sauce. All in all I wanted to support a small business and in the end felt duped. On the wall they have a newspaper clipping, but it’s from 2020. Whatever this is, it’s not something to write home about!
Oh and if you need the restroom, use it at home or bring someone with you to guard the door. The only restroom there has a door...
Read moreThis restaurant doubles as a ghost kitchen for other establishments advertised on Uber eats. I ordered from a restaurant called Egg Head Breakfast Burritos this morning which has the same exact address as this restaurant. I was unable to leave a review for Egg Head Breakfast Burritos because of course they don’t exist. So I will be leaving a review for this restaurant that is doubling as a breakfast burrito delivery spot on Uber eats. I ordered “The One Breakfast Burrito” which costs over $21. When the order arrived to my home, I thought that it must’ve been the wrong order because the burritos are so small!! A can of Celsius energy drink is bigger than the size of the burrito! This should’ve been priced at $10 not over $21. The taste was 3/5, did not look anything like the photos advertised on Uber Eats. I will never be ordering from this establishment again. The value is 0/5. I was able to eat two of these burritos and I’m still hungry. See photos I took of this pitiful...
