Do NOT Go To This Denny's! EVER!!! [REVIEW PART 1 OF 3] Racist idiotic unprofessional incompetent disrespectful rude unethical inconsiderate petty dishonest dishonest waitresses Jenny and Maria are the main problems. Therefore, I will never go to this particular Denny's again. I'm going to forward this Review to the national corporate office; as their manager (who wasn't thee today but whom I met over a month ago) is also racist, unprofessional and disrespectful.
Today is Thursday 5/2/24, seven days after my Birthday. Maria happened to be the cashier when I walked up to checkout. Before I left the table I clicked on the link in the 'Happy Birthday' email that Denny's sent to me on my birthday, which I didn't notice until a day or two later, but that says it's usable for thirty days. It's for a free 'Everyday Value Slam' (two strips of turkey bacon, 2 scrambled eggs, 2 pancakes or 2 brioche french toast) which is the cheapest platter on the menu and doesn't fill up a baby's stomach let alone an adult's. Nevertheless, my waitress Irma (though she's pleasant and wonderful and I never allow anybody there to serve me except for her) could have and should have honored my preference of my usual 'Super Slam' (4 strips turkey bacon, two scrambled eggs, 2 pancakes or 2 brioche bread french toast, hash browns) and either not put it on the check, or applied my birthday coupon to it by ringing it up as 'Everyday Value Slam'. And the cashier could have and should have manually charged it at register as that, or manually applied a discount equal to the $6.99, or manually comped the meal.
Another Denny's I frequent, I went to ON my birthday and immediately upon door walk through the manager greeted me with a hug before I mentioned that it was my birthday, and she voluntarily said "Your breakfast is on me. I ordered the 'Super Slam'. She also offered to use their machine to inflate the cupcake happy birthday balloon I had just bought at the CVS up the street. She then sat that and another balloon (I guess they provide to customers on their birthdays) on my table along with a birthday hat she provided. They brought a lit candle to me in the middle of the ice cream, topping my dessert choice from the menu, as they sang happy birthday to me after announcing to the other customers that they have a birthday today. I tipped the waitress $5 despite the check being $11.
This Sylmar location needs to learn from other Denny's on what customer service is, what professionalism and respect and loyal-customer appreciation is. As I mentioned the above-described birthday experience to Jenny; she rudely cut me off and bitingly said "They're probably independently franchised!" I said, "No, of course they're not, they are corporate owned like this one. And you're missing the point....customer service. While you're being petty and disrespectful and trying not to honor your emailed-birthday-offer, other locations TRY to show appreciation to their customer's. My waitress, Irma, brought me free coffee today, I didn't request and she didn't put it on the check." Jenny then walked away. Mind you, she began by talking to me from a distance instead of walking up to me at the register counter. Smh.
What happened was - the email failed to include a coupon code nor bar code and it's link failed to go to either, and I was logged onto my a Denny's account. I asked the cashier waitress (the rude *itch Maria) where is the code or bar found since I didn't find it anywhere it should be. She said she doesn't know. Then repeated herself as if...
Read moreHow can I start this off… this happened at 1:45 pm, my boyfriend and I came to this Dennys on Hubbard and Gladstone. He asked me if they are fast cause we have 30 min meal period I told him yes cause I’ve always eaten there. Today was a different story. We get there and right away I noticed half the location is closed which is where the restrooms are at. It’s literally being blocked by the claw machine and there’s wet floor signs leading to the restroom the floor is not wet. Of course I get greeted. And when we asked about the restroom so we can wash our hands cause we are delivery drivers. The host just looked at us and was like ummm yeah go for it. Obviously we are not going to go thru the counter area. So we squeeze in between the claw machine and the half wall to the table. My boyfriend mentioned to me that when he was walking to our table the server Maria looked at him up and down kind of like disgusted due to the fact we used the restroom. We sit down at the table and we wait. The host asked if he can started us off with drinks? And we replied yes and if we can order as well? He replies with your server will be with you to take your order and I’m going to get your drinks. The server Maria did not acknowledge us at all. Honestly we were getting ready to leave. Paying attention to what she was doing. She did not once come to us. The host again came to us and took our order. He goes to Maria and tells her what we ordered. Honestly she looked bothered and annoyed. I pay attention and she does not put our order in, instead she going to her other tables that she was serving, including the two tables closest to us. Again still nothing. The host again brings us our food. Nothing from Maria again nothing about how’s everything. Nothing zip zero. The manager that was on duty I don’t ever remember her being the way she was acting. Someone asked her a question and she just looked at them like if she couldn’t understand them and shook her head. My boyfriend had to go and I told him just leave I’ll take care of the check. Sitting there unhappy. Finally Maria comes and asked how everything was. I straight up asked for the check. I think she noticed I was on the reviews and tried to be extra friendly. Like no. All of sudden you noticed me? Where were you as a server? Other than making us feel like we didn’t belong and you choose not to acknowledge us. I’ve never once been treated like this from a Dennys restaurant. Especially this one. You’ve lost a customer and I really recommend other customers not to come here. The way we were treated was not right. To be very honest I don’t think the managers care about this restaurant because they know it won’t...

Then repeated herself as if I'm deaf and retarded, "We need to scan a bar in order to take off the $6.99 breakfast." So I asked her dub a* again; where else can it be found. She said it will show if I log in via the Denny's app instead of being logged onto the site. I showed her that my phone battery was at 1% so I need to charge it for a few minutes so I can download the app. She pointed to the wall behind her and said "We have an outlet right there." She WATCHED me look for and take out my charger only to then say "We can't charge customer's phone's." Insulted by her behavior and treatment and now also by her comment, informed her (as now here stands Jenny and Maria repeating the same thing again) that as a regular to diverse Denny's, though I rarely need to charge while I dine the Manager's and staff always plug in my phone behind the counter where they charge theirs, st Denny's that happen to not have outlets on the booths for customers to use. Jenny's delusional low-mentality ignorant a** cut me off mid sentence saying "That's why they don't have them on booths, they don't want customers to have the convenience." She chose to miss the POINT I said (that they take my phone and charger and plug it in FOR me behind the counter where theirs are plugged.
She was touching my phone screen with her filthy hands, without my permission, and doing so AFTER I already showed her the email and website screens I checked before I left my table; as if I'm mentally slow, and telling me REPEATEDLY what I already showed and told her - that theirs clearly a glitch or something because "no code nor barcode is anywhere", and telling me REPEATEDLY what the coupon page of my account shows (two different types of coupons neither of which are the birthday one). So I said, "ma'm, again, I already told and showed you that. Again as I said; 'I need you to charge my phone for a few minutes so I can download the app, my battery is at 1%, Maria says the code and barcode will show on the app." Jenny replied, "No it won't. It should ALSO show on the site. You have to log in!" I said, "as I showed you both, I AM logged in, you saw my account name at the top of the page. And so you're saying Maria lied to me; no code nor bar WON'T she on the app." Jenny cocked even more of a bad attitude and erroneously defended Maria's unprofessionalism...
