Fantastic Food!

If you aren't sure what to get, you can't go wrong with their pupusas! I always get at least two or three of the bean, cheese, and pork pupusas. Look no further for baked goods, as the bakery here is always full of fresh-out-of-the-oven traditional Mexican pastries, including a fantastic cream-filled empanada. And a strawberry tres leches to die for! They also serve sandwiches, coffee, and horchata, so it’s a great place to stop by for a bite and a sit-down or to pick up some treats to take home.

The staff always greets you with a smile. The location can be easy to miss. It's tucked away in the corner of a corner shopping square. Judging by the exterior, one might be forgiven for overlooking the location as unremarkable. Still, the interior invokes the saying to “never judge a book by its cover,” as it is newly remodeled and fresh and vibrant inside.

Parking is typically going to be scarce if you come during peak hours (and sometimes even if not) or and especially on Sunday, it can get pretty crowded. If that's the case and you plan to Order to-go, what I usually do is park the car across the street at Arco–as typically, you should find (2) available parking spots in the northeast corner nearest to the exterior lavatories at Arco–and that walk is considerably shorter than any other potential parking alternative outside of the lot.

So, it may be hard to find it at first, and at times, it may take a little effort to get there, but there's never once been a time when I've ever...

My first time checking this Salvadorian bakery once again was suggested by my wife because she used to work in the area many years ago.

We came on Saturday during lunch hour and it was super busy with a consistent line. Me and our daughter secured a table just after a couple got done enjoying their meal. The lady had left her purse in the chair where she was sitting. I immediately grabbed it and chased after her as she was leaving the bakery with her friend. She was grateful and thanked me.

After my wife ordered us our pupusas and drinks we sat down and enjoyed our meal. Everything was delicious and of course this bakery's staff hand makes everything here. The pickled cabbage that comes with the pupusas was also delicious along with the red salsa they homemade as well.

Their freshly made drinks were quite refreshing to wash it down with.

The bakery is clean, organized, and they have very accommodating service with a smile and welcoming vibes.

When we come back to Van Nuys we will certainly give their other items on the menu a try.

Well done El Carrusel...

had pork & cheese papusas from here about a good 4 months ago when i visited LA.so freaking good!! i came back a good 2 times before my trip was over. came back again 2 weeks ago around closing time. they said they only had pork & beans available, so i just went ahead and took those.super bland, didn't like them. too much beans. came back again today during a reasonable hour just so i can get the ones i wanted, the pork and cheese ones. when i arrived the cooks told me they, again, had none prepared. patiently waited 10 minutes to get the ones i wanted.i was super excited thinking they were going to be the same as the first time i tried them. boy was i wrong. i don't know what yall have changed from your recipe from about 4 months ago, but you need to change it back.thought yall gave me pork and beans again by mistake. idk. if yall don't have enough pork just say that. but if thats not the case, please go back to your old recipe for pork & cheese papusas or rehire whoever it was making them!! sincerly, a disappointed...

Arrived about 8 in the morning on a Sunday morning and the line was out the door. We ordered pupusas revueltas which are beans, chicharron and beans. The pupusas are legit really good. I wasn’t impressed by the curtido only because it was super salty, the salsita was okay, maybe a little too watery from what I’m used to. (I’m from El Salvador lol) I went around and got a couple of items from the bakery, the quesadilla was delicious, the bolillo was good and I got a concha which were ALL fresh. We ordered the ensalada fresco which was 100% DELICIOUS, holy cow it was so good should have ordered a larger one. I’m going to come back and try the atol de elote and a couple other things because it all looked so good!!

Did you wake up craving pupusas? or arroz con leche? ....Maybe platanos fritos, frijoles, huevo frito, crema, queso, pan frances y cafecito??? this is the place to be at! 👌 Coming on a Saturday or Sunday morning can face you with a long line. Better call and place your order.
