My new favorite Brewery. ๐ป I was introduced to cask beers at Macleod and I really like 'em.
My favorite beer I've had so far is called Backwards in a Taxi. ๐บ It's a jasmine rice pilsner brewed by Steven that's amazing. So far I have purchased 12 4-packs since they're running out and I'll have to wait till next season. (See motorcycle shot - I thought I'd bring a lemon box that way it looked like I was hauling lemonade ๐ on the ride home.
This place is located in a wonderful building that has a very cool British flair. Everyone who works her is pretty dang cool. I think that is because the owners are so cool. I got a chance to meet Alistar one of the owners and he was clearly an awesome person with a unique point of view. ๐ฌ๐ง
On my first visit, Denise one of the beer-istas instantly introduced me with a fellow food & beverage entrepreneur who happened to be there at the time. I have a spicy candy company called Danger Snacks ๐ฅ so the intro was great.
There is lots of seating indoors and outdoors as well as darts, cornhole and plenty of great food and beer. I've only shared a spicy meatball pizza once and my best friend. ๐ We ordered it cheese-less and it was crispy and wonderful.
I've met some very cool patrons here. ๐ Hilda, Tia's Michelada founder (see Tias shot in my fridge). I met Mark Adams a former badass skateboarder now professional meat smoker/bbq'er and spicy pepper growing extraordinaire. ๐ถ๏ธ I also met Gern and his dog Latka.
Very cool peeps hang out at MacLeod Ale. ๐๐ผ๐ฆ
So far I've been back four times and plan to return many times over even though I live over 30 miles away near Pasadena. This place is in the Valley.
I plan on visiting their second location in...

Pizza, pizza, pizza-best pizza in the area. Better than medici(only pizza i can compare in the area) and even more generous toppings. We ordered the โhot Italianโ and it was spicy hot cheesy pizza perfection. Our pizza came piping hot whilst cheese sliding off complimented by a perfectly spicy tart sauce on a blistery thin charred crust, characteristic of baking in an extremely hot oven, like the good Lord intended. The sausage was a perfect compliment and it didnโt have those gigantic whole pieces of cumin that is so off-putting in Italian sausage. We literally ate this pizza with our eyes closed only pausing to say yum.
Desserts. We had the butterscotch pudding and it was a creamy sweet delicious dream topped with real heavy whipped cream.
Lowlights: parkingโmaybe. I wouldnโt know because I ubered like a responsible adult. I kind of like that this place is hidden. It appeals to my introversion.
Overall, this is my new favorite spot for beer and pizza in the area and...
ย ย ย Read moreIf I had to describe this place in one sentence it would be really good pizza in a less than desirable location. We struggled to find parking and soon noticed that it wasn't the best part of town as we drove around. However, I still wanted to give it a shot so we searched until we found a spot a few blocks over. They have seating inside and additional seating outside which made for a decent sized space. I felt that it didn't give me the full brewery experience but their pizza did not disappoint. You can't always judge a book by its cover and also have to realize not every business has the opportunity to be in a prime location.
We ordered the Mediterranean Vegetable and it lived up to my expectations for well executed brewery pizza. The olives were upfront in the flavors of this pizza and the dill was a nice accent. The crust was light but crispy and it got better as it cooled down. I didn't try any of the beer but my friend enjoyed their cran nuys. I would overlook the area, give this place a chance, and try...
