Yesterday was my 6th time ordering food from here. Sometimes the food you receive at different establishments is so good, it outweighs any problems you may have with them; this is the case with El Huarache Veloz.

The last time I came I received excellent service because I'm pretty sure I was waited on by one of the owners. She was conversational, attentive, funny and took great care of me. Sometimes I'll call in my order over the phone and other times I've placed my order there. The problem has been some of the employees aren't fluent in English and I have problems getting them to understand what I want, which is I order huarache's with steak AND chicken. I like the chicken to be on the bottom and the steak on top. They are usually very surprised I want both meats; when I call on the phone they usually put me on hold; when I order in person, they usually go to the back and then come back. I didn't experience this with the owner.

The other problem you may encounter is obtaining a parking place. Out of the six times I've been, I've had to find a park on the street three times because the lot was full. I always get the red sauce to go with mine and green for my girlfriend. When I get home and sit down and begin to eat, any problem I had simply leaves my mind. This time I was also looking at the menu so maybe next time I'll try something else; but the huarache's are so good, it's going to be difficult to make a...

I called in a breakfast order and when I arrived to pick it up I had asked for the red spicy sauce, the lady working in the front told me that the salsa would be an additional price due to the chilaquiles already being covered in sauce. I let her know i wanted the red spicy sauce to add to the food. She said that the spicy salsa was still going to be an additional charge. I did pay for the salsa but this is the first time I get charged extra for the hot sauce because they counted the sauce in the food (green chilaquiles sauce) that is not as hot, as hot sauce. I have bought huaraches before covered in the same sauce and not been charged extra for the hot sauce. Additionally, the receipt listed $2.25 for three 2oz salsa cups, yet I only received one—and it wasn’t even full. This lack of consistency and value is disappointing, and unfortunately, I won’t...

We usually go to the other location in Pacoima and it's always good. We were in Van Nuys and tried that location. The first time we had their huaraches they were the best we had. Went back a few days later and they were good, but not as good as the first time. We were in the area again tonight and thought we would give them another try. The huaraches were horrible. The meat was flavorless and so over cooked that it was hard to eat. We also tried their carnitas torta and it was tasteless and mushy, even the tomatoes. No texture at all. The pastor tacos were also way over cooked and burned.. My original review was a 5 star after the first visit, but after tonight, we won't be going back. Service was good though. We'll stick with the...

How wrong can you go with a plain cheese quesadilla? WRONG I order a plain quesadilla and I was not able to eat it because the cheese was rotten … smelled really bad and it tasted bitter. I informed the cashier/waiter of the issue and he refused to replace it or refund the money. Ask for a supervisor and the cook came out and said (qnd I quote) “the cheese is fine, I made it yesterday “ Not sure what kind of products they may be using but I won’t be coming to this establishment anytime soon.

The huaraches are legit. True Mexico City style huaraches. The salsas are full of flavor, a little more spicy would be perfect. They need to add a "campechano" to the menu. 4 stars only because the location is not that good. Food is 5 stars. Give them a try. They won't disappoint you.
