My companion and I, were seated right next to the kitche.. There were MANY available seats, and we were sat there. Our waitress, with the initial ordering was fine. We received our food and drink.
However, after that, we were left out to sea. We were TOTALLY IGNORED, and brushed off during our time. My companion had to flag down assistance, for a cup of water Our waitress came back ONE TIME, (this was after the water). And I was given a 2nd cup of coffee
We finished our meals, and cleaned our plates and utensils up. We then waited for 20 minutes and our waitress never came back. Being RIGHT NEXT to the kitchen, a gentleman came and took our plates.
After waiting ANOTHER 20 minutes, with our waitress NEVER returning. We had to yet AGAIN, flag down assistance, to pay the bill. I asked for the manager, and told him what happened.
Our waitress then came with our bill, and a TERRIBLE attitude. And when explained, how she treated us. She huffed and walked away, VERY rudely. The manager, and waitress came back, with our bill. She threw it, on the table and walked away

This morning, I visited the IHOP on Laurel Canyon in North Hollywood, and while I expected the usual good food, I was absolutely blown away by the exceptional service from Avis. I had the steak omelette, which was amazing as always, but Avis’s attentiveness truly elevated my entire dining experience.
From the moment she greeted me, Avis was friendly, warm, and approachable—the kind of person you can genuinely enjoy talking to. What set her apart, though, was her remarkable ability to anticipate every single need I had and meet it before I even had to ask. It’s the kind of personalized, thoughtful service you’d expect in a Michelin-starred, white-linen restaurant, not a casual pancake house.
Avis’s attention to detail and her genuine care for her customers deserve special recognition. I don’t typically write reviews, but her service was so exceptional that I felt compelled to share. If you’re visiting this IHOP, do yourself a favor and ask for Avis. She turns an ordinary breakfast into a 10-star experience.

During that time, the manager overheard me mention the missing menu and reacted with hostility instead of trying to make things right. His behavior felt discriminatory—my friend and I, both men, came in together on Valentine’s Day, and he slammed our drinks down aggressively. My friend’s soda was flat and in a noticeably smaller cup. When he asked for a new one, the replacement was overly carbonated and watery.
Despite multiple attempts to get the staff’s attention, no one responded. Meanwhile, a group of elderly women who arrived at the same time as us got their food well before we did.
